In the early stages of a relationship, it’s not known for couples to fight and tolerate each other’s bad habits because they are experiencing they ‘honeymoon ‘phase. In this phase, relationships tend to go smooth sailing until their hormones for attraction has stopped. Now this is when true love happens, the surviving couples will compromise with their partner. What compromise means is an agreement between disputes by making concessions. For an example, just last Tuesday , I made a compromise with my girlfriend that I will take out the trash and be more responsible in the well keeping of the house and she try not to be so nitpicky. This a good compromise as we both worked out an agreement that ...
Love: a small, four-lettered word that oozes with possibility. What is the meaning of love? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines love as “a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person.” However, can love really be defined? In the short story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love,” by Raymond Carver, the four main characters discuss just that: what is love?
Corruption is present in every city and government in one form or another. However, to counterbalance corruption, society needs a form of structure to function properly, whether structures involve features of intimacy and love or civility and trust. Society will see that the majority of people will react positively to have forms of love and trust. Intimacy and love are vastly different compared to civility and trust: I believe that intimacy and love works better in situation with fewer but civility and trust is better situated for larger groups. Thus, I am going to argue that civility and trust outranks intimacy and love in which trust has a greater important to society.
“Try to also compromise in a positive way, rather than always sacrificing. Negotiate up for something rather than subtract.” “Give up something, be prepared to offer something to the table yourself.” The 5 rules of fair compromise in a relationship. (2016, June 17). For example my fiancée and I disagree on a lot but this situation was really hard for me to choose at the time I had just graduated from high school I moved in with him and my in laws. I had just quit my job before graduation I felt like anybody, I had no money, no job, and didn’t think in any further education. The environment I was in with others got worse I was getting into arguments with my fiancée because we needed to be stabled and not struggling financially, he wanted me to work full time just like he was. I didn’t want to work because of the fact we have a child and I wanted her to be at least with one of us, if we both worked she’d never see us. Finally, one night I decided I wanted to start college and work at the same time, but we finally agreed that I work less and focus more on college and our child while he worked full time things were really tough but I look at myself now and I have a lot on my plate but I still manage to hang on. Compromising when possible helps have a win-win
Much of my life, love has been defined by an unexplainable and uncontrollable feeling that burns inside your soul. One that when you look at a person you will just know and the rest will be history. This definition of love I grew up love was also demanding, controlling, dependent, and selfish. But still it was something to be desired and something everyone couldn’t wait to feel. To love
Poets and philosophers for centuries have been trying to answer the question, what is love? Love has an infinite number of definitions, which vary from one person to another. Love cannot be measured by any physical means. One may never know what true love is until love it- self has been experienced. What is love? A four letter word that causes a person to behave in a way that is out of character. What is love? A first kiss, childhood crushes on a teacher or friend’s mom. What is love? A choice that people make by putting their partner’s wishes, desires and needs above everything else. What is love? The act of forgiveness, the infatuation with someone, the communication between two people. What is love? A friendship that turned into a lifelong commitment, that special someone who has vowed to spend the rest of their lives to honor and protect, to love each other “till death do you part.” When in love nothing else in the world matters. According to the online Encarta Dictionary love is the passionate feeling of romantic and sexual desire and longing for somebody. Poets and philosophers may never know what love really is, and we may never truly understand the question what is love.
Love is said to be one of the most desired things in life. People long for it, search for it, and crave it. It can come in the form of partners, friends, or just simply family. To some, love is something of a necessity in life, where some would rather turn a cold shoulder to it. Love can be the mixture of passion, need, lust, loyalty, and blood. Love can be extraordinary and breathtaking. Love being held so high can also be dangerous. Love can drive people to numerous mad things with it dangerously so full of craze and passion.
Love is having compassion for others, sharing feelings and your life with another person, as well as, having faith in others and forgiving those we love for the any errs that they may make. Most of all, we must be committed to those we love. Of course, this is only my opinion. No matter how long I try to explain what love is ultimately it is up to you, the reader, to define what love is to you. So let me leave you now with the words of the great Humanist Erich Fromm, "Can anything be learned about the art of love, except by practicing it?"
Love is not usually well defined. People often think that they are in love, but they cant explain it. There is a great dealing of confusion of the words love, and infatuation. Love may include romance, infatuation, affection and tenderness. But it could be love if one or more of the elements are not present. The definition of love varies from person to person. Love is essential element for all relationships. Much of what is written about love is either brief or mocking. Society in general is very cruel and heartless toward real love of any kind. Modern writing mocks marriages, husbands and wives, but condones adultery, and other obscene values. Real love is a mystery to most people. Most people never realize the true potential or value of love, nor do they learn to practice the art of love.
The Definition of Love Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definitions through the Internet, books, and articles, I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia is probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All of which can only be defined by one word and that is love.
Love is an interpersonal relationship developed, maintained, and possibly destroyed through communication, but also can be enhanced by communication. Love is often described as a feeling of closeness, caring, intimacy and commitment between two people. There are six different types of love: eros, ludus, storge, pragma, mania, and
Some people believe that there is no such thing as “true love” they believe that love is nothing but an illusion designed by social expectations. These people believe that love ultimately turns into pain and despair. This idea in some ways is true. Love is not eternal it will come to an end one way or another, but the aspect that separates true love from illusion, is the way love ends. “True Love” is much too powerful to be destroyed by Human imperfection; it may only be destroyed by a force equal to the power of love. Diotima believed that “Love is wanting to posses the good forever” In other words love is the desire to be immortal and the only way that we are able to obtain immortality is through reproduction, and since the act of reproduction is a form of sexual love, then sexual love is in fact a vital part of “True love”. Sexual love is not eternal. This lust for pleasure will soon fade, but the part of love that is immortal, is a plutonic love. You can relate this theory to the birth of love that Diotima talks about. She says that love was born by a mortal mother and immortal father. The mother represents the sexual love, the lust for pleasure. The father represents the plutonic love that is immortal. Plutonic love is defined as a true friendship, the purest of all relationships. A true plutonic love will never die; it transcends time, space, and even death.
Love is a variety of different feelings and states. It offers an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. There are quite a few things I love. Two things that are very important to me are being happy and having faith. To me, having faith means believing that you can overcome whatever obstacle you are faced with.
To better understand the concept of "love", lets define the value of love. Love is the most valuable commodity in the world. We all need love just like a fish needs water. Without love, life would not be worth living. With love in our lives, we are empowered beyond belief.
This was a very interesting read filled with prodigious insight, I excepted to be dull and dry, but after reading Buddhism’s four elements of true love I realized that the way the aspect love is explained in this book, is very unique. The way it explain it true love with the elements like compassion or loving-kindness, or even joy and freedom are all ways that we know we should try people in society with in general on a daily basis. I never really thought of it as true love until I read this book. This made me think that if I talk to someone with one of these four elements, does that mean that I have some sort of love or care for them in this society, even if they possibly could be someone random. This really got me thinking about this question
What is love? Love is a very special and meaningful word to each human being. Each human being has his/her own thoughts about love to guide himself/herself to land safely and smoothly into the kingdom of Love. Without this preconceived idea of love, people would be acting like a blind person searching for the light with thousand of obstacles in front of him.
