1. This service paper is about the effects of complacency on prioritizing work and its detrimental effects on an officer’s credibility.
BACKGROUND
2. As a member of Canadian Forces it is important to avoid complacency, it shows we take our job seriously. When we are complacent, our action may a negative effect on our organization. We have show we have a routine and values, when we prioritize our actions. We must always remember that our actions can affect everybody around us.

3. As members of Canadian Forces, we are held to a higher standard. When we become complacent by failing to properly prioritize the work we are failing to meet and upheld the standards and as soldiers we are to receive corrective action. Complacency …show more content…

Generally speaking complacency is extremely dangerous in any work environment, civilian or military. Going in auto-pilot mode of operation, not having situational awareness activated, taking shortcuts can cause incidents, unsafe acts that can have in some instances a deadly effect. You need to think ahead and properly prioritize work.
5. Bad prioritizing can affect a mission and we as soldiers always have a mission or exercise. For example if we are to be deployed in a foreign country, it is necessary to give a high priority to the deployment training which may include: paying attention to the way we conduct ourselves, getting specific cultural awareness training, changing our way of thinking, mentalities, stereotypes, distinguishing between combatants and non-combatants. US army in their various deployments learned that complacency, lack of proper planning and vision, non adjusting to the realities on the battlefield, when you might need to distinguish between enemy combatants and civil population can gravely compromise the mission. In this type of situation the importance of junior leadership that is dynamic, active, creative is paramount for the success of the mission. Training in a foreign language is also an important task that will make US military to have more contacts with local population. Avoiding complacency, better prioritizing for US military means a renewed System Approach to Training (SAT) and Mission Performance Standards (MPS) that will continuously improve based on After Action Reports (AAR’s) provided after mission has come to a closure.
7. Innovative ways to combat complacency may include simulation based training based on new scenarios, equipment will lower the boredom level which occurs when soldiers have the same routine, actions at all times. Another innovative way to combat complacency is the use of army publications which have an important role in bringing to light the negative effects of bad work prioritization on the military life. Real examples will increase the awareness to this issue, will minimize that type of
