At some point in everyone’s life, they come across an awkward encounter good or bad. It just makes you wonder if that situation was awkward because of you or you were awkward because of the situation. In another instance when you are walking down a sidewalk and someone is talking on their Bluetooth. Of course you do not see the Bluetooth, and once you say something back it gets awkward and uncomfortable. Or when you are in a group of people and you get the confidence to say a joke and when you do, no one laughs at it. Then you try to come up with excuses explaining to yourself why they did not laugh, to build your own self-esteem. The last meme I created. It says “not sure if she’s flirting or just being nice” and it fits in with the rest of them because what is more awkward and confusing than the opposite gender trying to figure out if they like each other. In conclusion, Futurama Fry is a funny and popular meme. I love looking and sharing different memes when I am on social media. Though, I always watch what I share to make sure no one gets offended. I never really paid too much attention to the details of a meme until this assignment. Although people really enjoy memes, and they truly can impact someone’s life. They can also state what everyone is actually thinking without having to say it to someone’s face, and they usually take it better when it comes

Children across the world enjoy the television show Spongebob for its loveable characters and humor. The most prominent of these characters is Spongebob Squarepants, a personified sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea, in a town called Bikini Bottom. He spends the majority of his time working as a chef at the Krusty Krab, a fast food restaurant run by a greedy crab named Mr. Krabs. Spongebob’s neighbor and co-worker, Squidward Tentacles, has a very cynical view of life, constantly complaining about Spongebob and praising the clarinet and other arts. Across from Spongebob lives his best friend, Patrick Star, a starfish known for little intelligence and extensive sleeping. Most episodes, he and Spongebob act on a new idea which leads to various consequences. Sandy Cheeks, a squirrel from Texas, sometimes joins Spongebob and Patrick in their adventures. While the show is marketed to children, it has many qualities suitable for teenagers and adults including occasional sophisticated humor and philosophical references. Two philosophies referenced in the show are Epicureanism and Existentialism. Epicurean beliefs are shown through Sandy and Mr. Krabs, while Squidward and Patrick showcase Existentialism.

For all their differences the Lord of the Flies and Simon have one singular trait in common; they both know what the pig’s head really means for the boys on the island. At first glance, the Lord of the Flies is just a pig’s head on a stick, however it is so much more than that. The moment Jack and his hunter’s kill that pig, a part of them is lost forever and this lost part is their moral sense of right and wrong (149).
Television is the pinnacle of human creation. A box the size of an animal that could produce pictures that move and was created thousands of miles away in a studio by other humans whose job it was to entertain the public, but does the need to entertain remove from the possible knowledge to attain. Shows like Family Guy, Futurama, and South Park are some of the many shows that people decree as pointless, a joke, a waste of time, or idiotic. To the unknowing eye theses shows are indeed nothing more than a joke or entertain, but if one were to take a closer look into the shows it is possible to see that jokes, storylines, and characters represent a bigger picture. Family Guy, Futurama, and South Park are some of those shows that use satire to
Politics is an ongoing controversial discussion; Everyone has the right to participate and indulge in the political movement. Although chaotic at times, it is extremely important and crucial to our future. With that being said, it is important to note that various cartoon artists take pride in replicating important issue through their art. Artist appeal to their audience by using logical fallacies, ethos, and by emphasizing or pointing out important messages within their artwork. Doug MacGregor, a political cartoon artist, had the honor to form a part of the 2016 elections by displaying his ideas in a political cartoon. The cartoon titled “It Takes Brains to be President” by MacGregor alludes to social media and political knowledge using symbolism.
Humor is more than just amusing entertainment to pass the time. Though jokes and witty banter can be shallow, humor can go deeper than surface level to convey messages to audiences who would otherwise be close-minded about certain ideas. Humor is a great tool to get audiences to change the way they think, feel, and act. In “Saying Goodbye to Yang,” Alexander Weinstein uses humor to criticize some of society’s faults, such as the way it has become heavily reliant on technology, racially insensitive, and judgmental. As technology advances, people are adapting and becoming more reliant upon it.
Many people tend to use humor as a positive communication skill to make us laugh. It has long been used as a tool to navigate how we better understand media and politics. In today's crucial times of political chaos, social unrest and in-fighting between political parties, the use of Satire humor is more relevant than ever before. According to Oxford dictionary, satire is defined as the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. In the last decade there has been a staunch increase in technology and a rise in social media, this comes with its own benefits and downfalls. The use of satire humor has been represented
Satire invites critical self-introspection from us in a way that no other media can. It also acts as an unbiased mirror that reflects the mirror image of the flaws of our society. This beautiful process, when unhindered and uncensored, is the epitome of western freedom of speech, which is the single most significant right that deserves to be cherished and defended. According to McClennen, however, all mirror images of satire might not be beneficial. She believes that shows such as South Park and The Simpsons, which are not afraid to attack anything, do not lead to any kind of positive political discourse.
The Simpsons acts as a satire for American society by poking fun at current trends and pop culture. Carl Matheson defines this phenomenon as Quotationalism. Matheson quotes: “Comedy has never completely foregone the pleasure of using pop culture as a straight man” (Matheson 288). Quotionalism is a vital technique used by the writers of
Usually, watching two people have consensual sex is entertaining enough, but the porn industry likes to get creative sometimes. One example of this comes by way of a Bob's Burgers pornography parody. Judging by the YouTube blooper reel, it looks like it will be both funny and oddly sexy. Either way, Pornhub, and YouJizz fans will be happy.
Animal Farm and Lord of The Flies, despite the different themes and story lines, show the same meanings. Orwell's story talks about a farmyard dictator and the harsh conditions for the animals living in the farm. It is similar to a life or death situation for a group of boys, who must govern themselves, presented in Lord of the Flies.
Through the use of satire the uninformed are educated, a following is created, followed by the demand for change.
Modern pop culture “is the entirety of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, images, and other phenomena that are within the mainstream of a given culture” (Wikipedia.com). The studying of modern pop culture has afforded me the opportunity to re-evaluate the way I perceive and understand it.
In the contemporary society, popular culture represents the emerging lifestyles, fashions, values, as well as customs that the mainstream population follows without hesitation and with loyalty. It embraces a blend of philosophies, opinions, beliefs, viewpoints, and imageries, besides various forms of events that specific groups of individuals adopt in the society. Popular culture plays a significant role in shaping the way people think or perceive things by offering them a unique interpretation of something that they may eventually like. In this digital age, some of the popular culture known today takes account of television programs watched by many people, the numbers of individuals who currently use the internet constantly as the best means
