Roald Dahl and Edgar Allan Poe are alike in many ways but they also have some differences. Poe’s writing style was darker and meant for adults. Dahl’s writing was funnier and was meant for children. Poe wrote many short stories including the “Black Cat” and “The Tell Tale Heart”. So did Dahl. Poe did write other types of books. Most about lost love. Most of his famous books where horror. Dahl had an excellent childhood while Poe had a terrible childhood. They are also the same in many ways. Poe spent a majority of his life writing and Roald Dahl did other thing before he began his career as a writer. Dahl was a fighter pilot until his plane crashed in 1940 which left him very hurt. He decided to quit flying and become a writer. He went on to write many book. So of them even became Disney movies. Some of these books are “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “The BFG”. He lived to be 57 years old. He had a very funny style of writing although “The Landlady” is not one of these. It has a more horrific and mysterious style. His father left him and his mother died of tuberculosis as did his father a little while later. He became an orphan. Most of his books reflected the childhood he had. He got taken in by a family and then joined the army. After that he became a writer. He wrote dark short stories. Some of his more famous one were, “The Fall of the House of Usher” and “The Tell Tale Heart”. Poe was found it a gutter and a little while later he died. Poe died very young and still no one knows how. There are several theories though. Poe did write some books other than horror ones but there are not many. Most of these are lost love. He did not write for kid like Dahl
