The creature starts learning that many people in the town react when they see him and he is not like them but doesn’t fully understand why at this point in the novel. When other humans see the creature, they become scared, agitated, and violent towards him. People in the society and town helps educate him to understand that he is not a human being. Much as John in The Elephant Man, he learns and realizes that he is different from other people by society. John has a severely deformed appearance that contributes to his alienation by society. Both works had a plot centralized around a ‘monster’. The type of monster differed for each story but was similar in the sense that both monsters were created through an obsession. In Frankenstein the monster is obvious, but in The Martian Nick Watney is the monster created by his obsession for research. Since the original novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, to the multiple movie adaptations, the monster is almost always predicted as the monster of the story. It may be his physical appearance, from his tall, broad frame, to the signature screws in his neck. It may also be his unnatural upbringing and interpreted evil characteristics. We have grown to fear the monster, which ultimately, has masked the true monster, Dr. Frankenstein. With each coming movie, the good side of the monster is brought to light, while the real monster shows his true colors.

Frankenstein is a horror movie that tells the story of Dr. Henry Frankenstein’s experiment. In search for the fame and glory of playing to be god, he reaches a point where he is able to revive dead people. In this version of Frankenstein’s monster we see a selfish and careless scientist that created a creature with his intelligence. The way the character is shown reflects how ambitious someone can be to reach to be known in the world. This movie makes the people who are watching to feel empathy on the poor creature. This poor creature that did not want to live in a life where everyone is going to hate him for having a horrible aspect and not following rules that he has no idea about.
Many fantasy plots can often share similarities, whether it is mystical creatures or the never ending fight between good and evil. Two books that share a mutual thought are Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien. Though at first glance the stories seem to have no similarities; with Frankenstein being about a young man taking experimental science too far, and The Lord of the Rings following the journey of fantastical folk in their quest to destroy an all-powerful ring. But if the characters in these plots are looked at carefully, likeliness can be found between Victor Frankenstein and the creature Gollum. The two characters Victor Frankenstein and Gollum are very similar in many respects; in their desire to have something which is not theirs to take, being blind in ignorance, and finally are diminished by the one thing they sacrificed everything for. “Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven” (William Shakespeare).

Frankenstein is a fictional story written by Mary Shelly. It was later adapted into a movie version directed by James Whales. There are more differences than similarities between the book and the movie. This is because, the movie is mainly based on the 1920’s play, other than the original Mary Shelly’s book Frankenstein. A text has to be altered in one way or the other while making a movie due to a number of obvious factors. A lot of details from the book were missing in the movie, but the changes made by Whales were effective as they made the movie interesting, and successful.
Most Americans have some idea of who Frankenstein is, as a result of the many Frankenstein movies. Contrary to popular belief Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is a scientist, not a monster. The "monster" is not the inarticulate, rage-driven criminal depicted in the 1994 film version of the novel. Shelley’s original Frankenstein was misrepresented by this Kenneth branagh film, most likely to send a different message to the movie audience than Shelley’s novel shows to its readers. The conflicting messages of technologies deserve being dependent on its creator (address by Shelley) and poetic justice, or triumph over evil (showed by the movie) is best represented by the scene immediately preceding Frankenstein’s monster’s death.

James Whale's Frankenstein is a VERY loose adaptation of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel. The spirit of the film is preserved in its most basic sense, but the vast majority of the story has been entirely left out, which is unfortunate. The monster, for example, who possesses tremendous intellect in the novel and who goes on an epic quest seeking acceptance into the world in which he was created, has been reduced to little more than a lumbering klutz whose communication is limited to unearthly shrieks and grunts. Boris Karloff was understandably branded with the performance after the film was released, because it was undeniably a spectacular performance, but the monster's character was severely diminished from the novel.
A human blossoms to succeed in life, they blossom to come to one point where we may look upon life and remember all the times we owned, one blossoms to be someone, great, and one strives to accomplish this with their ability. In further Frankenstein want to succeed. To look upon one’s life without any regrets is a hard assignment to accomplish. The characters mentioned are all different but yet the same in purpose: trying to succeed. The main character of Frankenstein and Death of a Salesman seize similar qualities; wanting to succeed in life, have the same relationship with another key figure in the plot line, and possessing the qualities of a tragic hero.

Gothic works are characterized by the certain elements combined from both horror and romanticism. Various elements of gothic literature are presented in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus, as well as The Phantom of the Opera.

In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein and the monster that he creates are very similar. For example, Victor creates the monster to be like himself. Another similarity is that the anger of both Victor and the monster is brought about by society. One more parallel between Victor and the monster is that they both became recluses. These traits that Victor and the monster possess show that they are very similar.
Society is inevitable. It will always be there as a pleasure and a burden. Society puts labels on everything such as good or bad, rich or poor, normal or aberrant. Although some of these stamps are accurate, most are misconceptions. In Mary Shelley's, Frankenstein, this act of erring by society is extremely evident. Two of the most inaccurate assumptions of society revolve around the central characters, Dr. Frankenstein and the monster. Society's labels for these two extremely different characters are on the exact opposite side of the scale of what they truly are. Dr. Frankenstein is more of a monster while the monster is more humane.
