Comparing Canadian Amateur Tennis to Pro Tennis Comparing Canadian amateur sport to a professional Canadian sport,

which in my case is tennis. When high school is over, its time for me

to choose what career path that I will be looking to go into. The

choices that are out there for me is to become a full-time

professional tennis player, or go into a coaching career and just be

an amateur athlete. Either of my choices will lead me into

disadvantages and advantages, but right now, my choice is becoming a

professional athlete unless something stops me to do my job.

Amateur Athlete

Advantages:

* Get to spend more time with the family/friends.

* Less chance to become seriously injured, since the hours are

shorter.

* Keeping a low profile.

* Having open choices of what to do, not just training everyday.

Disadvantages:

* Putting a lot of money into the sport but not earning any big

cheques.

* Less traveling.

* Not getting to learn different experiences from different

tournaments around the

world.

Professional Athlete

Advantages:

* Being “known” as one of the best in your country/world.

* Earning the big money.

* Living an exciting life with family/friends.

* Interesting experiences from every tournament.

Disadvantages:

* Long hours of training, leading to exhaustion.

* High risk of getting seriously injured and therefore career most
