The religion of Buddhism was founded during the year of 500 BCE. It was also found in India, just like Hinduism. Buddhism was founded by the Buddha(the Enlightened One), formerly known as Siddhartha Gautama. The religion was founded in a very interesting way, where the Buddha had spent 49 days under the Bodhi Tree. Buddhism is nontheistic religion, instead they follow Buddha’s ideas. One of Buddha’s idea is called the Four Noble Truths. The Four Noble Truths are a way to know why suffering happens and how to end it. The last truth is where the Eightfold Path comes in. The Eightfold Path is a “middle way” to get things in life the right way, but in a way that does not bring suffering to one’s life. In Buddhism, they have one main goal, which …show more content…

In the article, it states, “is not to deny the differences among a Buddhist who believes in no god, a Jew who believes in one God and Hindu who believes in many gods. It is simply to claim that the mathematics…‘The fundamentals of essentials of all religions are the same. There is difference only in the non essentials’”. This point made by Prothero imposes that religions have more differences especially their non essentials in each religions. Like how Hindus believe in more than one god while Muslims believe in one God. That is one difference religions have. For example, in Islam, a way to get something from others is to make a covenant. In the primary source, written in 713 CE, “Treaty of Tudmir” by Abd al-Aziz and signed by Theodemir, it conveys how Muslims use a treaty in order to invade in Spain and expand the religion. In the treaty, it says, “In the name of God, the merciful and compassionate. We{Abd al-Aziz’s forces] will not harass him[Theodemir], nor remove him from power. His followers will not be killed or taken prisoner, nor will they separated from their women and children.” Muslim forces believe that the only way to get their religion expanding and growing is if they make an agreement with a high power in the lands. By doing this, the Islamic ideas and desires has spread throughout the years all because of one treaty. However, wanting and having desires in life is an unacceptable thing in Buddhism. Buddhists follow the belief that having desires causes suffering in life so one must let go of their wants. According to Buddha, his ideas, The Four Noble Truths, show the way to live a life without wants.
