Fear Corrupts According to Aung San Suu Kyi, “It is not power that corrupts but fear.” Animal Farm by George Orwell is an intriguing novel that was published in 1946. In contrast, the film The Village by M. Night Shyamalan had its first debut in 2004. The film and the novel may be 58 years apart but the theme of a story is timeless. He didn’t tell the truth so that he wouldn’t lose his power, much like when Ivy was sent into the woods in The Village. Ivy was sent into the woods to get medicine but due to her loss of vision she was not able to see the truth about the village. Since she wasn’t able to see then she wouldn’t find out about what her grandfather and father were lying about. Her grandfather had quite a bit of money so her grandfather thought that it would be safer in the village for many townspeople. Her father then kept the lie going so that he and his family would not lose the power over the villagers and the other elders. How a conflict is resolved is extremely
