The role of the prophets Muhammad and Jesus was to be messengers of God. They both had different Gods but had the same idea of what their God had said to them. For example, Muhammad like stated in the Qur’an is the messenger of Allah. Jesus on the other hand is the messenger of God in the bible. They’re mission was to spread the word to everyone of what God commanded to them. The prophet’s purpose was to explain the plan and purpose of God and inform other individuals about it. When comparing both Muhammad and Jesus there are similarities and differences in the role that they both played and what they believed. One similarity that both Prophets have in common is they believe in only one true God. Muhammad for instance, only believes in Allah, which he describes as a divine individual over anyone else. Those who practice Christianity consider being Muslim taboo because they are said to have renounced Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity. Aside from that factor, most practices are equal. Sadly, most Muslims and Christians will never get along because in their eyes, the few differences are colossal enough to keep them divided. Each side is too blinded by the error of the others ways to see how analogous to one another they actually are.

Ted Hodges, expert in conflicts in history, said “Some of the worst wars, mass murders, and other outbreaks of violence in history have been motivated by religious hatred or revenge. And often the roots of such violence and hatred are found in an event or grievance that occurred hundreds or even thousands of years earlier” (Hodges 48). So why is this? What makes it so necessary for peoples of a religion to wage war? No answer has been found to date (Hodges 14).

Abraham is referred to in the Old Testament that is used in both the Jewish faith and Christianity. Also Islam’s refer to Abraham as well as the man that had to make the sacrifice of giving up his son. His obedience was highly regarded and recognized throughout these religions. Through the many passages throughout each sacred book God refers to Abraham as a friend. Knowing this relationship these religions have held Abraham in their religions as obedience to God through the many acts he carried out.

The major similarities that all three religions share are that they are all monotheistic. This all means that they believe in one god and that he is the supreme ruler of all things. They also believe that all things are created equal under one god. They all have books of what they believe to be God's word. The Jews have their book known as the Torah. The Christian's have their book known as the Bible. Lastly the Islamic people have their book known as the Qu'ran. All three of these books have scriptures.
They were different in their own way also. What Jesus preached was way more peaceful than what Muhammed preached. All in all, they both were great leaders of their faith in their God. Another religion I enjoyed learning about was Zen. I appreciate this religion because the practices of this religion will ultimately lead to peace.
