Serena Espinoza Ms. Tobias English 3GT 4th 01 January 2017 The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which takes place in the roaring 20’s. This novel is about Jay Gatsby and his love for a beautiful woman named Daisy. In the novel and the movie the story is being narrated by Nick Carraway, a friend to Gatsby and a cousin to Daisy. I will be comparing the similarities and differences between the novel and the movie. The characters and symbols in the novel are just as similar to the characters and symbols in the movie. Specifically Tom Buchanan’s character and George Willson’s. Tom Bucanan’s character in the book was very Aggressive and arrogant as well in the movie. “Two shining arrogant eyes had established dominance over his face and gavein the appearance of always leaning aggressively forward.” ( Fitzgerald 7) Tom gets into a heated argument with Gatsby about how Gatsby became as rich as he is now. Tom challenges Gatsby just by looking at him, which sets Gatsby off.
