Old fashioned clothes can mean a lot to someone who has hand crafted them themselves. Did Romeo make his own

Since then, there have been many different versions of Romeo and Juliet, whether it was for film, stage, musicals. These different recontextualised adaptions change the original play by many ways, some modernise the language, environment, props as well as changing the original characteristics of some characters. Out of all the different adaptions of Romeo and Juliet, two stood out the most. One was the Romeo and Juliet (1996) and directed by Baz Luhrmann and the other one was Romeo and Juliet Broadway (2013) play version,

‘The difference between Franco Zeffirelli’s Romeo & Juliet (1968) and Baz Luhrmann’s version of Romeo & Juliet (1996) is simply a modernisation created by Luhrmann to attract a teenage audience.’
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a tragic love story about two young lovers who are forced to be estranged as a result of their feuding families. The play is about their struggle to contravene fate and create a future together. As such, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood would try and emulate Shakespeare’s masterpiece. This had been done before in many films. Prominent among them were, Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 “Romeo and Juliet” and Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 “William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.” Both films stay true to the themes of Shakespeare’s original play. However, the modernised Luhrmann film not only maintains the essence of Shakespeare’s writings, Luhrmann makes it relevant to a teenage audience. This is done through the renewal of props and costumes, the reconstruction of the prologue and the upgrading of the setting, whilst preserving the original Shakespearean language. Out of the two, it is Luhrmann who targets Romeo & Juliet to a younger audience to a much larger extent than Zeffirelli.
The differences are more abundant than the similarities. One of the big differences is that Romeo is very outgoing, daring and breaks a lot of rules for love, for example “'Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself, though not a Montague...Alack, there lies more peril in thine eye Than twenty of their swords: look thou but sweet, And I am proof against their enmity.” (Act 2 Scene 2). This shows that he is breaking many rules like the fact that their families are enemies and are not to talk also he is in her back lawn where he could be caught and killed. On the other hand Paris is very mature and follows all the rules of society. He asks Juliet’s father for her hand in marriage, but Romeo just married her without telling anyone. The second difference is Romeo is very immature, you can tell this because he was in love with Rosaline, but he went to the party and completely forgot about Roseline when he meet Juliet. Paris has loved Juliet throughout the whole book from the moment Lord Capulet asked him about Juliet to the death of Juliet and himself. This shows how he is more mature and sure about his love for Juliet. A similarity of personality traits between Paris and Romeo is they both have loved Juliet since the first time they meet her and they both have stayed loyal to
Even though, Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet over 500 years ago the struggles and social pressures portrayed in the play are still present in the cutthroat society of high school. Two perfect themes that are shown tremendously throughout Shakespeare’s time and our modern times are; “Love” and “Fate”. These are constantly running through people’s minds all day as they try to unravel them. No matter the time period there will always be similarities especially between the teenager years.
There were many differences among the two stories, among these differences were setting, weapons, the classic “Balcony Scene,” other new adoptions to the film, the concentration on the main characters of Romeo and Juliet, and the implementation of imagery to the storyline. First, the setting of the story is probably one of the biggest differences between the two stories. The original version of the tale is set in Verona, Italy. The newer version is set in a fictitious Verona Beach, California, a city with the appearance of modern day Los Angeles after a riot. The new environment gives familiarity to the viewer, allowing them to relate to the situation at hand, bringing it to a modern time. Another change to the story was the weapons used within the story. The original story used daggers as weapons whereas the newer version uses guns (appropriately titled sword, dagger, etc.). The famed “Balcony Scene,” where Romeo and Juliet avow their love to each other was dramatically changed in many aspects. In the original version, Juliet appears on the balcony and utters the famous words “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?” (Shakespeare 45) Juliet then goes into the speech about names, asking Romeo to deny his fathers name. Romeo is hiding in the shadows below and hears the words of Juliet. After hearing Juliet’s speech Romeo steps into the light. Romeo and Juliet profess their love for each other and they plan to get married in secrecy.
Many great works that have been written before 1900 are Shakespeare’s works. One of these is The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Some say that this work is one of the best tragedies of all time. Also some say that this still can be applied to daily life and is still relevant as much now as it was back then but, there is an argument against that. The argument is that this story is irrelevant. Especially since the creation of electronics and the constant changing of the english language people think this story is completely irrelevant to a person in modern times. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is an irrelevant work for a person in modern times due to the lack of, modern english, modern love concepts, and storyline.
Romeo and Juliet Although Romeo and Juliet become inextricably smitten with one another, they both enter into the relationship from different perspectives. Their love is strong, but each has their reasons for the intensity of their love. Romeo has just come out of another?crush?. He has liked Rosaline for quite awhile, but things do not work out because the feelings are not mutual. Romeo sees that Juliet is a beautiful lady that he falls in love with right away, while he attends the Capulet Party.
“Romeo and Juliet”, a play composed by William Shakespeare, is about a boy and a girl who are fall in love with each other at first sight, but soon find out that they have fallen in love with the child of their parents enemy. Seeing fate is not on their side due to the ongoing feud between their parents, they are willing to do anything to be together, which unfortunately leads to both of their demise. Many people question if the love between Romeo and Juliet was true. The love between the two was not true because they fell in love with each other’s appearances, they didn’t know each other long enough to actually figure out each other, and they were hardly thinking straight during the relationship.
William Shakespeare’s well-known play Romeo and Juliet addresses the ill-fated love of two young children from feuding households set in Verona. Over the centuries since the play was first published around 1595, many different versions have been produced and reproduced. While the basic story remains the same in these different renditions, certain aspects of the play are handled very differently. Thomas Otway wrote one of the most varied versions in 1680 entitled The History and Fall of Caius Marius. Set in ancient Rome this version focuses much more on politics than a story of true love. With this variation many of the characters are in much varied roles. One of the most obvious character disparities is found in the title character of Romeo, or Marius junior as he is called in Otway’s version. While both versions of the male lead go through little or no character development, Romeo and Marius junior are very different in their regard and understanding of filial duty and responsibility. Due to the political context of Caius Marius, Marius junior is much more aware and receptive of his filial and social duty, while Romeo rejects any sort of filial or social responsibility.
The Middle Ages were a very unique era. In many areas of life, including clothing, there were extremes of simplicity as well as outlandish extravagance. Displaying ones personality through clothing choice, was as important to them as it is to people in the twenty-first century. Even through strict rules and hard times, everyone in their own way took pride in showing off their personal styles.

Romeo & Juliet Comparative Essay In Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Sonnet 130’ love is presented in various different ways. At the beginning of the play, Romeo’s idea of love towards Rosaline is depicted as an immature obsession based on physical attraction. However later in the play, Romeo’s affection towards Juliet refines to a strong type of worship with passionate love and extreme devotedness as they are willing to die for each other. This differs from Sonnet 130 as it acknowledges that appearance isn't important, but the emotional connection towards each other is.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare juxtaposes the World of Everyday and the World of Romance to display the type of people Romeo and Juliet are. The two worlds are similar in a way because of the characteristics of the world.
