It is undisputed that education is necessary to make people more productive and to make people appreciative of their capabilities. In fact, through education, people were able to make life easy for themselves and that is why it is said people like simplified work. There are two systems of education which people use today and those are categorized as an electronic system and a traditional system which is to use paper books. In this paper I will compare e-books and paper books and make clear which of the two, e-books and paper books, is a better option for a sufficient and quality education. First of all, it is clear that everything has a beginning and a cause. In education, there was a period people did not write, a period of curving stones …show more content…
For example, the number of people with licenses to offer an electronic book are few and do not understand what exactly is needed. According to Rio (2003), “Most vendors of e-books do not seem to understand library needs or do not have suitable license” (p.89). Those who provide books, other the manufactures, do not need a license to sell the books and they do not need to have experience selling books. Also, paper books are available even in the most destitute of places on earth but e-books are not. According to Rio (2003), “the dedicated readers are not widely available throughout the world” (p.89). Furthermore, e-books have an issue known as “copy right” while such a problem in not seen in paper books. According to Rio (2003), “the rights of resale is different from when a book is purchased…….e-book distributers reassure publishers about their intellectual property rights by providing a very controlled user interface, without making it too cumbersome and unwieldy for users” (p.89). Due to the copy rights, the content in the electronic version is not always printable and that is not an inconvenience one finds in using paper
In Jo Ann Beard’s “The Fourth State of Matter” and Jay McInerey’s “It’s Six A.M. Do You Know Where You Are?”, two completely different main characters find themselves recently separated from their spouse and alone. Throughout both of these stories, we see the struggles that these individuals face as they cope with their grief after separating from their significant other and accepting their new realities. The narrator in “The Fourth State of Matter” consumes her time in caring for her ailing dog and working as a physics magazine editor; the main character in “It’s Six A.M. Do You Know Where You Are?” spends his time abusing cocaine and looking for another companion. While the two characters handle their situation in two completely different ways, they do, however, possess some similar qualities. Ultimately, they have both come to find themselves in a reality that is stuck between the past and the future. In the end, both characters are able to accept their divorces probably because they have felt so lonely for far too long; they can finally move on with their lives. “The Fourth State of Matter” and “It’s Six A.M. Do You Know Where You Are?” both depict how misfortune can leave the characters in each story in inertia between reminiscing on the past and moving forward into the future and how difficult moving on can actually be for these characters who fear the feeling of being abandonment so much.
The first similarity I observed after reading the books, is that both books are non-fiction, informational text. They both tell the process and/or procedure of how crayons are produced. Crayons are a piece of everyone’s childhood, often encouraging skills such as, social and peer interactions, following directions (e.g. color by number), and promote a child’s exploration and replication of their natural and social world, which surrounds them. Second, both books used real photographs to give the reader an acute, informational perspective of the tools, materials, and resources used when making crayons. This format allows the reader to gain direct “real world” insight, into how a crayon is made. Third, each book explained the different tools and materials used to make a crayon. For example, a young reader may not know what a
With the help of technology and changes in society, modern means of education are rapidly changing, making it much easier for students to learn and access more resources for learning. In the stories "School vs. Education" by Russell Baker and "The Human Cost of an Illiterate Society" by Jonathan Kozol they both explain the worth of education and the way life would be without it. This essay will suggest that technology has changed the way the world is and how things are taught and if technology had never been apart of society and everyday life than we would be a lot less intelligent than we are now. With a loss of intelligence, so many things would not have been invented.
...ess to a computer to stretch a hand across a keyboard to reach every book ever written, every painting ever painted, every symphony ever composed”. The author of Source E feels that because students are not already exposed to some of the things we do not deserve or have the mental capacity to learn. On the opposition he says that students do not deserve technology because we have short attention spans. With some of my peers this is true but with those of us that want to learn the internet is a massively powerful tool.
...g a book for the course. As a result, publishers continues to dominate the market by making their product the only product in order to become successful in class.
This project examines the pros and cons of E-books and print books and whether or not one is better than the other, or the other way around, which includes many topics of which is better for education or free reading. The point is not trying to prove that one should be gotten rid of, but for the point of which has been proven to be more effective in such areas. Over the course of this paper, I will discuss multiple pros and cons of print books vs. E-books, and while I take the side of print books, one should make their own decision on the topic.
However, electronic publishing does have disadvantages and flaws. A fair amount of information that is published today is confidential or meant only for a specific group. Many things such as security and integrity of the information must be taken into account when an electronic document is read.
The technological inventions have led to many changes in our lives. Our age is called a digital age. People use technology not only for communication ,but also for education. As a result , educational materials are not only presented through the text books, but also presented by using technologies inside classrooms. Moreover, learners are asked to access information by using technologies outside a classroom
During the past few years, the publishing and reading world has been facing a veritable digital book onslaught. E-books have been outselling print books on Amazon since 2011 (Polanka, 7). While digital book sales skyrocketed, print book sales, especially those of mass marked paperbacks, diminished. Even the fact that e-books are not much cheaper than print books does not seem to interfere with the former’s popularity. It would seem that the age of print books is about to end, and quite soon.
Getting educated is one of the most important things in life when it comes to getting a good future. By developing good knowledge of schooling, it helps establish and maintain new information as needed throughout the real world. As books are one the essential tools in learning, eBooks are being used in a everyday lifestyle. Traveling to get away places from city life, helps give reading a comforting feel. Students that use print books are eventually going to use ebooks in the future. By educating students with ebooks, it is more efficient than carrying textbooks; ebooks is more convenient and reliable to read, write and store notes. Print books are being replaced by eBooks, it helps on keeping files together and it makes notes
Even though e-books where not in the mass market, the e-book can be found dated back to the early 1970’s , but e-readers did not show up until the late 1990’s which made a big advancement in e-books (Avant 128-129). In 1999, it was projected that the future of e-books brought controversy to people over whether they would bring good or bad possibilities. The possibility of space on shelves in libraries allowing them to have enough room for printed books would be one advantage. It was projected that books could be downloaded from the internet at anytime, but this presented the possibility of not having space on the internet, since it provides only provides limited amount of space in memory for the item to be stored. But if it was solely relied on and the old print copies were discarded, losing all the information is a dangerous possibility. For

Thompson asserts that despite the increasing technological advancement in the academic cycle, printed books will never become obsolete, but will always remain in use[1]. This is because of several advantages that most readers get from printed books over digital books. It is important for readers to note that e-books will never replace printed books due to better quality format, as well as, experience. Printed books allow readers to read in the old fashion manner, give a book as a present to a person, and display books as artwork in the house. All these kinds of experiences are unavailable in digital books.
Reading habit has changed and reached a broader range of the past decades, where a paper has been the only choice for a long time. The technology development showed that most of the reading materials which used on paper being displayed in digital versions now. Currently, citizens are living in the world of ‘Digital Age’. Even though there are so many people describing and discussing the Digital Age, the existence is still lacking.
The information and communication technologies have become in all aspects of life .Over the past ten years, the use of ICTs have changed many things to business and governance.
