This format is one of the most used research paper formats in applied sciences, nursing, business, and social sciences. APA format it also very similar to other commonly used formats, however slightly different, while providing similar challenges to others. While the APA format is unique in its own right I can not help but compare it to MLA formatting, with its similar but slightly different ways of citing sources and structure. However, the structure is very different from the MLA format. For one, there is not anything like the abstract and title pages, both not in the MLA format. Other than a few
APA (American Psychological Association) style is primarily used in the social science disciplines. It is formatted like MLA, and shows many similarities, but is unique in several key points.
MLA, in which this essay has been written, is most commonly used in the study of literature and humanities. All I had ever known was MLA so it was quite a shock when I found out I would have to learn how to cite in APA. The first thing I did when I found out how we were going to cite our papers was go to Easybib to have the website to it for me. Turns out Easybib wants you to pay them if you want your sources cited in APA format. Once I found that out I scoured the web to find a website that could do it for me. I could not find a dependable site anywhere so I had to go look in the english book on how to cite. When I got to the section on citing sources in my book I realized that this is where I should have went right from the start. The book had every type of citation you would ever have to use. But even after I found out how to properly cite my sources, it was still another question for me

Another paper I included was my research essay, it about why camels should become a common livestock in the USA. I used the 8th edition MLA works cited page format and improved my in-text citations greatly. For example, “The reason camels have so few enemies is because, according to the article Ships of the Desert they, “have a reputation for being [an] ill-tempered animal that spit[s] and kick[s],” but when not threatened, “camels are generally good-tempered, intelligent, patient, and even affectionate” (“Desert: Camels”).” Although I initially struggled, Eng 121 helped me develop the skills and learn the format to write in-text citations from reliable sources. This skill will allow me to continue to incorporate quotes from sources into my future

News stories are covered several times and most of us do not even realize it. Although more recently many people get news in more similar mediums such as on the Internet because of the decline of newspapers. “Since 1940, the total number of daily newspapers has dropped more than 21 percent” (McIntosh and Pavlik, 119). Many times we do not realize the same story we read online was covered on our local news station and in our local newspaper, even further than that this same story is being covered in many different news stations, newspapers, and news sites all over the country and even the world. So what makes these stories different? Each time you read a news story from a different source something different happens to it. The different views and frames used by the source gives the reader a different take every time. I saw that first hand in my two stories. In my project I compared the same story of Mya Lyons, a nine year old girl who was stabbed to death.
Whenever it come to the research paper, I struggled tremendously. The topic for the paper was “How to do Good Research.” While brainstorming I began to get overwhelmed. Acquiring more knowledge on how to research accurately and correctly would be helpful. There is an abundance of information online, trying to sort through it all is mind-boggling. Learning how to correctly cite sources following APA guidelines would be beneficial as
