Compare and Contrast Essay
Have you ever wondered if one sport was better than the other? Maybe you have argued with a friend about this subject, but couldn’t give any reasons why. There are lots of sports out there, some that are very popular and some that people have never heard of. Each sport is unique compared to others. Everyone has their own opinion about a particular sport, but this essay is about two sports that I enjoy the most, tennis and golf. This essay will compare and contrast these two sports based on the facts.
The object of these two sports are quite different. To win in tennis, you must hit the ball where the opponent cannot hit it back. Both players must use a tennis racquet to retrieve the ball. You also have to hit
the ball inside a specific area or your opponent will receive the point. The scoring for tennis goes by love, 15, 30, 45, and then game. To win in golf, you must hit the ball in the hole using the least amount of strokes possible. A stroke is a swing in golf. You use a golf club to hit the ball. There are also many different types of golf clubs, such as the driver or putter. Your goal is to hit the ball in using less strokes than the person you are playing against. A disadvantage of these two sports is that they can only be played in a specific area. Tennis is played on a tennis court, which has a net in the middle and boundary lines on the side. You need a tennis court to play so that it is more organized when it comes to who wins each point. When playing golf, you need a very large area to play. You can only play golf on a golf course, which can be very expensive. Golf requires a lot of space, and the time it takes to finish a game can be very long. There are few requirements, besides the location, you need to be able to play these sports. In tennis, you need only a tennis racquet and a tennis ball. You must also have at least two people playing, or you can play doubles, which is four people playing at one time. When playing golf, you must have a set of clubs that include at least one of each kind. Each club has a specific job on the course, depending on where your ball is. You can play alone or with a group of friends. Keep in mind that it takes longer to finish a game with more people. Based on the information, I would say that tennis and golf are more similar than they are different. Both sports do not require bodily contact and is easy to understand once you learn the rules. They are also individual sports so each player has their own individual score. Another good thing about the two sports is that injury is uncommon, so it is relatively safe to play. Overall, I believe that tennis and golf are both fun sports to play with your family and friends.
Why do directors choose to stay faithful to or depart from a text when they are producing a film? Many directors choose to either alter or maintain literary elements such as characters, plot, and resolution from a text. The presence or lack of these specific features affects the audience. For instance, in the story “The Monkey’s Paw”, a classic short horror story written by W.W. Jacobs, and its accompanying film, the similarities and differences in the characters, plot, and resolution have an effect on the readers and viewers.
As most children did, I had the choice to play whatever sport I wanted. Considering my height, 5’10, most would assume that I played either basketball or volleyball. No one expected me to play tennis, and was surprised when I said that I did. During my elementary years, I played softball for seven years, and when I hit eighth grade, I decided to play tennis. My decision came about because of my sister. I had always followed closely in her footsteps because I looked up to her a lot, so when I saw she was playing; I wanted to try it out too. I had never really thought about what it would be like to play tennis. I didn’t hate it, or really know what it would be like to play it. And little did I know that playing would demand so much time, energy, and effort.
As you can see there are many differences and similarities within two sports. For example, one has contact and the other does not have any contact. Also, the equipment is a lot stricter than the other. Last, both sports are just for families to connect and to have fun with each

Bowling and Golf both share unique aspects of their individual sport. Bowling is considered an anaerobic activity, while golf is an aerobic activity. In bowling, one usually does not get sweaty or become suddenly out of breath, however, in golf, since one is consistently walking to retrieve their ball to where they the ball landed, both sports have their own purposes of exercising. In addition, in a Chicago Tribune article, Bowling may be a sport, but is it work?, by Marla Krause, interviewed the head coach of a boys' bowling team at New Trier High School in Winnetka, he says,” As exercise, it may not be like running or swimming," Durkin said, "but it takes some leg and upper-body strength to throw hard and hook the ball.” As this course taught
Imagine the sun bursting through the trees for the first time of the new day, the smell of freshly cut grass still potent to your nose as you tee the ball up for a round of golf in the cool mist of a spring morning. "That is what brings you back every time, the smell of the air, the coolness of the whether and the beautiful surroundings that make every shot enjoyable." (Suess, PI) This is the game of golf in its finest and most exquisite time to many people and many people it has touched in its long history. Golf is a lifestyle and not just games to people that are avid in playing. The game of golf has a history that is rich in technological advances and personal accomplishments, which through time has shown to shape the sport into what it has become today.
Soccer and lacrosse are obviously two different sports , but in a way they are both very similar to each other. Similarly, they both use a ball for their main part of the game. They use the ball to bring it down the field and a try to score on the opposing team. Another similarity is that they both have goalkeepers to help protect the ball from not going in on the team's side. They both stand in their goal box and they are able to bring it down field if they want. In addition, they use nets on the back of the goalkeepers with bars that show how big the goal is and so the ball doesn't fly out of the field when the team scores.Another example of a similarity between soccer and lacrosse is that they both involve a lot of running. For both sports midfield is the position where you have to run
Abstract: Society is affected every day by many different kinds of sports. These sports often govern society's way of life. People all over the nation turn their TVs to sporting events, such as golf, during the weekends. Scott Stossel states that "more than six million Americans enjoy watching golf on the weekends." Parents use sports as a teaching tool for their children. Kids learn teamwork and discipline from team sports programs and sports have also helped many students with their grades. Kids who want to compete in school sports are taught to keep their grades up or they won't be able to play, but the greedy coaches and schools often look around grades to keep their "star athletes" in the games. Adults have been affected by sports in their bank accounts. Tax increases for funding a new stadium, golf course and even school programs have hurt the middle class Americans. Sports have taken control of small communities and soon will take control of society

For the module 2 challenge, I researched the various governance levels of golf, and my group members researched ice hockey, bowling, tennis, and swimming. The general structure of all the sports is similar. They all have an international governing body, a primary professional organization, and all are sponsored by the NCAA, NFHSA, and also sponsored by state organizations.
I 'm going to compare tennis to golf to reveal the similarities and differences between the two sports. I think you will be surprised how similar they are. They both depend on the swing of your body; grips of your hands, the strike zone of the ball and both are a mental game. Tennis and golf are also very different in many ways. The types of balls used to play the game, materials used to make the balls and equipment used to hit the balls. Tennis is a team sport and an individual sport. But golf is primarily a single player against the golf course. The exertion level differs by sport. Both sports are challenged by weather and attire. I 'm writing this essay because I had played golf for many years before I switched
Sports are a great way to bring people together and encourage friendly competition among people from all walks of life. In general, a sport is usually some form of physical game or activity performed by two or more people. One such example would be golf, often dubbed the "rich man 's sport" throughout its history. Golf has undergone many changes since its creation in the early 15th century, but has remained one of the more expensive sports as far as equipment costs go. When discussing the impact that different technological advancements in the materials used in golf have had, I 'm mainly looking at how these adjustments have improved performance.
Peer relationships, obeying authority, and looking up to a role model, are all character traits that are learned through the practice of athletics. During a normal match of tennis, many mistakes will be made. However, these mistakes will be able to tell you the flaws in your swing and the ability to fix them and continue competing without getting frustrated. Tennis teaches the ability to handle mistakes and to use them to your advantages. Tennis teaches many positive characteristics that benefit the athlete in many areas of
Tennis is a beautiful sport, and to each it means something unique. To Andre Agassi, “Tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love -- the basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature.” Agassi realized the complexity of tennis, and the challenges one must overcome to excel at it. Because of the great difficulty of the sport and the length of time tennis has existed, there is a great debate and fascination over the greatest to play the game. However, only one person can rightfully claim the title “The Greatest Tennis Player of the Open Era:” Roger Federer.
