In the Kite Runner book a boy named Amir lives with his father, Baba, in a nice house in Kabul, Afghanistan. Next to their house was a hut that Ali and Hassan had lived in, as servants to Amir and Baba. Even though they were servants, Ali was taken in by Baba’s father when they were kids and grew up together like brothers, and Amir and Hassan had a similar relationship to their fathers’. In their culture the Pashtun tribe was better than the Hazaras, and Amir was a Pashtun and Hassan was a Hazara, so like Hassan’s father, Ali, Hassan was Amir’s servant, although they were more like brothers, and shared the same wet nurse. Amir was able to go to school and was educated, while Hassan wasn’t. Amir then occasionally used his higher intellect to trick or mess with Hassan since Hassan didn’t know it. Hassan was always honest and loyal to Amir, and also the one who stood up for Amir and himself and fought for them. …show more content…

Amir is the main character and narrator that tells the events when they were boys in Kabul, Pakistan, and what happens. Then Amir and Baba go to America, and start the next part of the story when Amir is an adult, and tells about other events, like Amir meeting his wife and getting married. One day, Amir gets a call from Rahim Khan, his father’s old friend from Pakistan who was always there for Amir and like an uncle to him. Rahim Khan wants Amir to come to Pakistan to see him before he dies, and tells Amir “there is a way to be good again” signaling to Amir that he knows about what happened between Hassan and he, and that he has to tell Amir something.
