Compare and Contrast Essay
“lack of fairness or justice”.
This essay is about comparing and contrasting the injustices of Anne Frank and Jesse Owens both faced. The Writer will also be making additional comparisons that they have faced in their life.
The Anne Frank play is a descriptive reenactment of the two years Anne and her family lived in the Secret Annex, while in hiding, to avoid the Nazis, a group of Jewish people learn and grow together through the struggles of Nazi oppression. Not being able to go to school, not being able to live a normal life, having to hide with the fear of being separated from your family every minute of every day .
Jesse Owens, a very talented track athlete, faces the struggle of oppression and racism from most of the white population in the United States. Not being able to use the same things as white american citizens including water fountains, bus seats, and public restrooms. Being Seperated from white citizens in restaurants, gas stations, buses and many more situations, Being hated for no reason, being treated unfairly and being valued as a “less important” human just because he was African american.

To depict the unfair daily lives of African Americans, Martin Luther King begins with an allegory, a boy and a girl representing faultless African Americans in the nation. The readers are able to visualize and smell the vermin-infested apartment houses and the “stench” of garbage in a place where African American kids live. The stench and vermin infested houses metaphorically portray our nation being infested with social injustice. Even the roofs of the houses are “patched-up” of bandages that were placed repeatedly in order to cover a damage. However, these roofs are not fixed completely since America has been pushing racial equality aside as seen in the Plessy v. In the two essays “Cut,” by Bob Greene and “The Fourth of July,” by Audre Lorde they both discuss how disappointments as a child affected their lives. Greene’s essay gives five examples about how five boys were cut from a sports team and how they used that disappointment to become successful as adults. Lorde’s essay differed in that it told one story of how her and her family were on their vacation in Washington D.C. and they were not served at a restaurant because they were black. Both authors discuss feelings of being left out, being discriminated against, and how disappointments affected their lives. However, there are more differences than similarities in the essays. I can relate more to Greene’s essay because I am an athlete; however, I have never been in position of worrying about being cut.
African-Americans aged 12 and up are the most victimized group in America. 41.7 over 1,000 of them are victims of violent crimes, compared with whites (36.3 over 1,000). This does not include murder. Back then during the era of the Jim Crow laws, it was even worse. However, during that time period when there were many oppressed blacks, there were many whites who courageously defied against the acts of racism, and proved that the color of your skin should not matter. This essay will compare and contrast two Caucasian characters by the names of Hiram Hillburn (The Mississippi Trial, 1955) and Celia Foote (The Help), who also went against the acts of prejudice.
We see the unfairness that was demonstrated to blacks whether it was on the battlefield or the sports field. There are all these hardships that black soldiers and athletes have to endure before others are able to see what exactly the capabilities of the black characters being portrayed. I believe that these actions are due to the blindness that society had for blacks and thought of them as a lower class in society. Today, many former soldiers like retired General Colin Powell and athletes like Michael Jordan are very much looked up to as being a higher class. I think in the next 10 to 20 years we will see documentaries made about these two gentlemen and we will still see some hardship that they endured due to the color of their skin. This essay showed us how white people wouldn’t let black people have any rights and treated them like they were a problem. It also showed us that no matter how much that black person tries to make something of themselves and it still gets taken away unfairly. John spent years away trying to obtain an education to educate everyone on equality, but the white people took that privilege away from him.
Many historical stories and poems led us to where we are today; although history appears to repeat itself, it speaks to us in several different ways. One of many examples of history speaking to us is the “good” and the “evil” in all people portrayed in the dramatic representation in The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. The worldly impacts of this drama have shown the reality of many home lives today, for example: siblings’ rivalry, marriage problems, and relationships between mothers, fathers, and children. There are also many discrimination problems today, just like past events. Many historical events have led us to where we are today, even though history tends to repeat itself.
I think this play is a lot about what does race mean, and to what extent do we perform race either onstage or in life:

Does justice exist in America? Yes, justice does exist in America, but for whom is the question real question. In America all citizens should feel equal to one another but that is not the case. Rather than feeling equal to one another, the blacks and whites of the country feel hatred to one another. In American justice is served but it is mainly for whites and not blacks. The word justice is defined as the quality of being fair and reasonable. Unfortunately in America, justice is not always equally served due to racism in the modern society.
Race shouldn’t be the way how people are seen and treated. In the book “Dutchman and The slave” by LeRoi Jones (Amiri Baraka) demonstrates the racial problems of how people with different color see each other. The Dutchman and The slave misjudgement of race that all race with same color are the same. This judgement shows how the world see other people with different ethnicity, culture, and race different from them. This misunderstanding cause big wars and fights between people of different race. Dutchman and The Slave has a huge meaning surrounding the racial problems within the book which draws readers intention to refer with the world outside and how it 's the same and different. These two plays gives the diversity of the world and its inception.
Justice without truth seems like a half sentiment, perhaps in the world of politics truth can only be relative, since the whole of it will only reveal the degree to which inhumanity and senseless violence exist. Perhaps the real question is: why for the past century of modern politics have we accepted and designated to half-truths? Even though the ideal concept of truth and justice existing only together seems far-fetched, but in a world wrecked with turbulence and seeking revolution it is necessary to reclaim the ancient philosophical concepts of only determining justice based on the entire truth.
Many people don’t want to believe that we are living in a social injustice environment in this country. They choose to ignore the fact that rich are getting richer while the poor are just getting poorer. The rich public schools are giving their students the necessary opportunities to live a decent life while the poor students are left out and have to struggle for those opportunities. The social injustice is visible to every citizen in this country and it continuing to grown; however, there is a few solutions to minimize and possibly to solve the social injustice problem we have in American. Social inequality, therefore, is an umbrella term. It is expansive in nature, as social inequality encompasses a variety of different inequalities; for example, gender, race, and structural inequality are all social inequalities, but they can differ widely in manifestation. The definition of social inequality can also change based on the perception of the individual who is defining the term.
