Remember being in first grade and reading the paperback Magic Treehouse book series where once you open the book and start reading the cover would never stay flat again, then in high school and college you were asked to analyze the books and you only had a small area to write your annotations on. Well what if I told you there was this form of technology called ebooks, otherwise known as digital versions of books and media that could change all that for the better? These e-books can be more beneficial to learning than traditional books, while also making reading more convenient and fun to do.

Each one of these people may have a different feature or use that benefits them over another feature, however they all can use the e-books and the advantages that come with them. Let’s say I’m your average businessman in New York City that takes the subway to and from work for an hour each way, and I like to catch up on my favorite book or magazine. Well all I have to do is take my phone or tablet out choose what I want to read and start reading, this form of technology now just become convenient to use. Some may say that the same can be done with traditional books, it could, but the convenience factor of all reading having my phone is not the same as having to carry around a book. U.S. e-book sales revenue is 3,356 million dollars, while worldwide is at 14.55 billion dollars. The U.S. sales revenue is based off the 457.09 million sales of e-books in the U.S. alone. The global e-book shipment number consists of 28.9 million (Statista 1). The numbers are pretty impressive for something that is still becoming popular among people around the world. If we go back in time we can see how at the end of 2009, e-book sales reached 60 million dollars(Statista 1).
