Community Service Helps Everyone

Service learning benefits numerous people whether it is the schools that offer their students the chance to give back, the agencies that accept these students, or the community as a whole. There are many people who take part in a community service course, but it is the students that gain the most from these opportunities. Community service provides students with an opportunity to be able to apply what they have learned in class and apply it to the real world. By making the knowledge they have gained be put into action and thinking beyond what was taught. Service learning, therefore, provides students with the motivation needed in academics, giving them more opportunities to incorporate and elaborate more on their knowledge, and it increases the implementation of theoretical knowledge to actual practice.
Community service is such a rewarding experience for me that it has opened up my mind about how I see the world. I think that a mind is like a parachute for if it is not opened, it cannot work and do its job. By taking part in some form of community service it teaches a person compassion and understanding towards others. When you volunteer for something you truly believe in, it shows how interested you are and reflects the work you put in. Although, I personally do not plan on becoming a teacher, I do think it is important to give back to schools and help teach the youth. When students first walk into a science, they are either overwhelmed or are really excited to learn. However, if children are not introduced or shown that science can be fun and easy to understand, it can make them feel more empowered and less afraid of the subject. ... to explain it to others and have the person understand as well. As I move through life I think I will always be involved in community service. Not just because I think it is important but because it is something I enjoy and look forward to. I love bringing joy and through community service I feel I can accomplish that, especially that feeling that you get when you do something nice for someone else and expect nothing in return.
I volunteer not because it looks good on my application or because of the appraisal, but because it is easy to forget about our fellow man. Though a few hours donated may seem like a lot, for another person or organization my time is essential. True aid comes not from a forced government program, but from ordinary people, crafting a better future for someone or something in need, looking to take a step towards a better and brighter future.
