Think about free education. Everyone I know and many more people can benefit from a free education. Not having to work at a dead end job and being able to study whatever your are interested sounds great. In the article by Joanne Jacobs talks about how some of the reason for why people don’t go to college after high school is because of money, but that is not always the case. Students like Bezerra, who is an undocumented immigrants and attended community college would want the cost of college to lower. It's understandable that the cost for college is very high, but when you have the opportunity to get a grant why not take it? If the “ community colleges averages $3,347 per year” and you have can get “$5,730 that low-income students can receive per academic year in a pell grant”. Community College shouldn't be free if students can find a way to still attend without having many problems. …show more content…

Making it free for anyone to attend community college will make most students finish high school to use that as an advantage to save money. This will overflow community colleges with students. President of The Campaign for College Opportunity, Michele Siqueiros talks about how “community college will end up with a long waiting lists.” Not only will it be hard for students to get into community college but with overcrowded classrooms this will affect the students learning. Matthew Chingos the director at the Brown Center on Education Policy, tells us how “starting at a community college lowers a student’s odd of ever earning a bachelor’s degree.” Most students in their high school years won't worry about trying their best to impress high ranking colleges because they will just focus on what's free and most convenient for them.
