Communism, by definition, is described to be a theory to have all land publicly owned and each person is paid according to their ability to work and needs.”Communism, which is also described as Revolutionary Proletarian Socialism or Marxism, is both a political and economic philosophy.” (allaboutphilosophy.org).Communism also includes: Abolition of Private Property, Heavy Progressive Income Tax, Abolition of Rights of Inheritance, Confiscation of Property Rights, Central Bank, Government Ownership of Communication and Transportation, Government Ownership of Factories and Agriculture, Government Control of Labor, Corporate Farms and Regional Planning, and Government Control of Education. Laws made by elected representatives are meant to be fair, if people find laws unfair, they can elect other leaders who can change those laws. A republic allows greater freedom and prosperity. Economic pursuit benefits the entire nation and people are able to live well. When government serves the interests of the entire country, we say it is serving the common welfare. There is wider participation in the political process. According to the Declaration of Independence, all men are created equal; therefore, it did not matter if you were a small farmer or a powerful aristocrat. Ordinary people are welcome to participate in government. Leaders emerge based on people's talents, not their birthright. Civic virtue is promoted. Civic virtue includes demonstrating civic knowledge (how government and the political process works), self-restraint, self-assertion, and self-reliance. Change and reform come about by vote, not by force (study.com). Some disadvantages of communism are the economic and political system of Communism effectively dictates what can and cannot be done in the realm of business. There are defined limitations for the amount a business can produce and how much money it can earn (courses.lumenlearning.com). Some of the worst disadvantages is that nobody can really get rich because everybody pretty much gets paid the same thing. “Nobody could get rich. Everyone had to work pretty much the same jobs and earned the same amount of money. Pretty fair, right? At least until someone realized that they could do the bare minimum and make as much as someone working their hardest. There weren’t any incentives to try hard either. No matter what you did, your position wasn’t going to change.” (theodysseyonline.com). People supporting communism over the constitutional republic could say that controlling the economy is good because everybody is equal. While that could be true the thing is controlling the economy
While it is great that citizens live under similar economic terms and are assured of the same paycheck every week, communism is not an environment that will allow businesses or people to flourish. On the opposite side of a Capitalist society, where businesses are able to skyrocket earnings, a Communist society affects businesses ability to grow. If each worker is given the same amount of money, this can affect their motivation to do things and go above and beyond. Everyone who earns the same amount of money for the same amount of work seems like a peaceful agreement and a proletariat paradise, but it does not always turn out that way. Unfortunately, communism can often lead to widespread corruption and sometimes encourages greed.
Communism is the study of how everyone is at peace and works together. There is no need for competition or armies because no wars are going on. The gap between the rich and the poor is eliminated and everyone has the same wealth to make everything perfect and fair. All human activity goes towards benefiting each other. Private property and all private businesses are eliminated. Instead of working for yourself to make a living for yourself, you are making a living for the country or society that you live in. In document 3: Friedrich Engels says that “ above all, (the government)... will have to take control of industry and all branches of production out of the hands of… competing individuals, and instead institute a system as whole, that is for the common account, according to a common plant, and with the participation of all members of the society. It will… abolish competition...Private property must therefore be abolished.” This creates an equality in the economic system. There are economic equalities now, because equality in the amount of work will get you an equality in pay. This eliminates the amount of money between the rich and poor closing the gap between the two. All of this equality meets the needs of the proletariats. The Proletariats were the working people in the lowest class. The workers worked and then the bourgeoisie took the money from the products and the proletariats got nothing from their
“We declare openly that our ends can only be achieved by the forcible overthrown of all social conditions.”- Karl Marx. This famous philosopher and socialist Karl Marx was well recognized for his famous book titled “The communist manifesto”. But who would of known that years after his death the world would be experiencing major rivalries and conflicts upon the restoration of Marx’s communistic ideas. Communism brought unexpected dilemmas, time consuming arguments and most importantly it lead to one of the most heartbreaking and nastiest wars of all between different nations. The Cold War occurred between the period of 1947 and 1985, just two years after the termination of World War II. This war was a struggle between the United States and the
There are countries that have been crippled because of a communist government, for example, China and Russia. There are many reasons why these two specific countries have fallen. Their constitutions have little to know meaning. The government owns the means of production and makes all the economic decisions.
It is very important to keep the governed at a satisfied state no matter what type of government rules. A monarchy can be just as good as anarchy as long as the people enjoy that way of life because the power rests among the
As a government, Communism was different from anything else and had distinctive goals. Though, as a whole and in simplified terms, what was Communism? Communism violently attempted to take over a country by eliminating all other political systems and the different classes of people in a socialistic way through the use of dictatorships (Ebenstein). Communism’s main goal was to spread Communism from country to country until the whole world was in a Communistic state. In their eyes, this made the world a better place, but it also removed the opposition of countries with different government systems (Overstreet). Communists did not mind going to war and losing thousands of lives if it would help to spread Communism (Communism, the Courts, and the Constitution). Under Communism, everything was owned by the government including farms and factories. This not only eliminated capitalism, but it also gave the government the power to control the countries’ food supply and other...
Common misperceptions have convinced Americans over the years that communism is corrupt form of government. In reality, the leaders of so called communist countries are corrupt. Communism is an economic system derived by Karl Marx, which in theory is composed of publicly owned property and wealth spread equally among the population. According to Merino in his preface to What Are Some Concerns About Capitalism?, “Communism’s defining feature is the public, or communal, ownership of capital” in which “the means of production owned and utilized by all for the common good” where there is no difference in the wealth between the people. Communism and capitalism have opposite values, while communism is beneficial for society as a whole, capitalism
Capitalism, if you want to know what it is this will tell you, it is a place where you can get all the J’s, Nike’s, or if you like Adidas. Capitalism is an economic and political system that makes up a country's industry and trade which is made up of private companies separate from the government unlike socialism. Capitalism is the best economic system to allow your company to grow and succeed in a country's economy.
Communism is a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
Communism is a system of government, a political ideology that rejects private ownership and promotes a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of all property and the means of production, where all work is shared and all proceeds are commonly owned. Communism is practised in China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos and Cuba. However, most of the world’s communist governments have been disbanded since the end of World War II. Soon after the Japanese surrendered at the end of World War II, Communist forces began a war against the Kuomintang in China. The Communists gradually gained control of the country and on the 1st October, 1949, Mao Zedong announced the victory of the Communist party and the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
The Star Wars Republic is a Republic. A Republic is like the United States of America. The goal of a Republic is to build on founding principles such as the American Constitution. These rights cannot be overwritten even by the democratic process found in America. In Star Wars this government is overthrown by emergency order to form a new empire out of the Republic. Communism was a topic of interest during the development of Star Trek. Communism is a populist ideology that draws stark contrast to Republics and Democracies. (How Stuff Works) Star Trek is often consider as a socialist organization, but that label is incorrect. The communism society designates jobs and removes money in which it is all controlled by the government. The writer of Star Trek Gene Roddenberry (KODM 979 FM) took a utopian approach to Space Travel. George Lucas took an approach that mirrored our own existence. Communism never really works since it fails to reward hard work as seen in a video example from fox regarding income redistribution with the example of student GPA.
It is clear that capitalism is more advantageous than communism in every aspect in the economy. All stakeholders such as common people, state, government, banks, and investors will benefit more in a capitalist economy. The best way to describe a communist economy is as an old lady who is demotivated in her life and just wants to eat and sleep, while a capitalist economy can be described as a motivated young man who wants to keep achieving more and more in his life.
Every single one of them has their pros and cons. Capitalism is no exception. Cons in Capitalism include monopoly in which large companies can become too powerful. Unfair pay and worker exploitation are also used to increase profits, which lead to greed in wanting more and more money. However, these things happened in Socialism and Communism as well; the only difference is that in Capitalism the people have the choice to become better. Capitalism allows you to sell and buy as you wish, creating economic growth. Capitalism improves the livings standards of the society overall. Furthermore, there are no better alternatives than capitalism because history has shown failures of communism and economies with too much government
Capitalism was a very strong form of government in fact, it was so strong that it was one of the factors that led to the evolution of the Industrial Revolution. Capitalism is a form of government where it’s based on open competition in a free market, in which individuals and companies own the means of production and operate for profit. The Industrial Revolution that began in 1780 in England, was a time shift from using hand tools to machines producing the demands of humans. Through the growth of capitalism, much of society began to question themselves whether the effects of capitalism on society, the nature of human beings, and the ideal social and economic situation was unjust or not. Karl Marx and Andrew Carnegie were two people who disagreed
In a democracy, money is the most dominant incentive. On the contrary, in a communist government, a person can work a million times harder than the person sitting next to him, and receive equal pay. This results in no incentive on the part of the worker whatsoever. When there is nothing to achieve by working harder, people become slothful, which does little good for a country’s economy. In most attempts, past and present, communism has failed economically, whereas democracies have a commendable success rate.
