Architecture has been around since the beginning of humankind. It is how homes are designed, castles are built, and how there is a roof over your head. Many buildings that we live in, work in, or go to school in have all carefully been designed by highly trained Commercial Architects. Architecture, specifically Commercial Architecture, can seemingly defy gravity with sideways buildings or glass walkways dangling hundreds of feet into the air. Commercial Architecture is what designs the mile high skyscrapers and other vast commercial buildings, as well as awe-inspiring churches and museums, and spreads fresh ideas on designing.
Mile high skyscrapers as well as other vast commercial buildings are just some of the many buildings that Commercial Architects design. The Sydney Opera House in Sydney Australia is an unbelievable example of how buildings are designed in specific ways. The Sydney Opera House was designed “specifically to improve sound quality and dispersal,” (Facts About Sydney Opera House.) Buildings like the Sydney Opera House use many different materials that allow for sound to bounce around or be held in. “The extensive use of wood offers excellent control of reverberation and echo as well as generating a softer reproduction of sounds.” Certain other materials like cloth or carpet holds in sound while materials such as wood or fiberglass let it bounce around. The seats in this opera house are all covered in wool which is a great absorber of sound. The Commercial Architect of The Sydney Opera House worked extensively to use the right materials so that the sound is heard in a balancing way that the owner wanted to hear.
