What is STEM? STEM is science, technology, engineering, and math. When I was first introduced to STEM, I didn’t think highly of it. I assumed that it was very boring and no fun. But has the year went by I learned that I thought wrong. Let me explain.
What makes me smile or makes me happy? Well I truly enjoy playing games and playing sports. They are super fun to do alone and with your friends. When I playing a game I always want to get to the next level and keep going. I’m motivated to reach the highest level there is in the game. The same goes for playing a sport. I always want to win the game and I never give up until I do win.
So let’s take playing a video games as something that I enjoy to do. Did you know that that is a form STEM. Playing

Well, I could create video games or I could be a video game tester. Each one is related to STEM, the technology aspect of it. Being a video game designer would also fall in the aspect of engineering as well. Engineering because I am creating something. If I go in the video game tester than that would only fall under technology because I would be testing a form of technology and would see if it is good to sell or not …show more content…
Since I plan to be a video game designer I plan go to college and major in programming or animation. To get my Bachelor’s degree in my major will give me the boost that I need to become a video game designer.
Like I have said before I’m very creative and building videos games would definitely express that. Becoming a video game designer will give me the opportunity to let my creative juices flow and let me creative something that I believe kids and teens would enjoy. Even games for adults to play if they wanted. I want people to experience the enjoyment I do when I play video games.
With all the experience I face with STEM and SECME would for sure help with my career in the future and help me with building and how the systems on how things works. Since I have done a lot of building a designing it could help with ideas for games that I come up with. STEM being a part of my system of work could also be a finical boost and that always a great
The four elements of a contract are the agreement, the consideration, contractual capacity, and a legal object. The oral agreement between Sam and the chain store satisfies the agreement element of a contract definition because when the chain store offered to sell Sam 's invention at their stores, Sam accepted by agreeing to ship 1000 units in exchange. The second element of a contract, the “consideration of each party,” is satisfied because Sam and the chain store have something to give the other (1000 units of the invention in exchange for the exclusive sales of the product at their stores). The third element is “contractual capacity,” which may or may not be fulfilled since we do not know Sam 's age or whether
STEM is an acronym standing for science, technology, engineering, and math. Stem stands for science, technology, engineering, and math because those are the four things that are essential for success. Also, because these are the four-most field involved in real world activities and jobs. Stem can also be used to stimulate ones imagination, but Stem can also be fun. When doing stem you can do many fun things that not only stimulate your imagination, but also allow you to experience fun such as building balsa wood bridges, making mousetrap cars, constructing water bottle rockets, or doing fun clubs like sea perch, NESBE, VEX, and/or
The thing that brings me the greatest joy is physical activity. I love outdoor sports and working out in the gym. During my school years I actively took part in football and basketball competitions, and then with the growing awareness about fitness and general health turned towards the gym. Working out in the gym proves to be a stress buster for me, provides me with increased energy levels and gives me enhanced confidence. This helps me to focus more clearly and bring situational awareness to all my endeavors. My quest to keep testing my limits gives me the confidence to handle new challenges and strive for excellence in all my goals. Exercise and other physical activities keep me calm and make me feel at
In my life, I had not had the chance to be a part of something that influenced me much, until I joined football my freshman year in high school. Joining football was perhaps the most devoted and wisest thing that I did because shortly after joining I began to see changes for the better, and from then I saw the person that I wanted to be in the future. In other words, it shaped the person that I am today and will be for the rest of my life. Not only did the sport influence me but it also equipped me with a new mindset that affects me today in my decision making skills, time management and many other beneficial life virtues. I believe that these virtues will bring me success in the nearest future because I feel confident about myself and I feel more in control in my life through my actions, all thanks to simply joining what seemed to be a “regular” extracurricular.
Today’s college students have the opportunity and freedom to choose their major and their career path. Many factors influence the decision of a college student’s career paths including background, general interests, personal strengths, time commitment, and job outlook. Although many important decisions are made in college, one of the most important is the choice of major and career track. Out of hundreds of majors the science and engineering fields are under-represented by women. Although the numbers of women in science technology, engineering, and mathematics, STEM, majors has been increasing in the past years, women still are in the minority in the STEM fields. In her study, Lona Whitmarsh concluded, “that career opportunities for women have widened,” but “not enough change has occurred to show significant differences between the overall population” (49). It is good that more women are entering these fields, but there are still not enough young women aspiring to fill the gaps. Further statistics show that female representation in engineering continues to be low, “in 2008 only 19 percent of bachelor’s degrees, 22.9 percent of masters, and 14.8 percent of PhDs in engineering were awarded to women” (Bystydzienski 2). Although there has been a general increase of women entering the fields of science and mathematics, overall the numbers are still low, showing that women struggle in pursuing a degree within these fields, and that many factors can lead to a female not choosing to begin or complete college in a STEM major. Women are in the minority of STEM fields.
The acronym STEM simply refers to science, technology, engineering and math. The acronym does not mean that STEM defines any specific type of job only in the sense jobs are related to science, technology, engineering, and math. Because of the nature of these jobs refers to STEM industries, these types of jobs in education and social sciences are not included. The main jobs included are within the fields of computers and math. Almost the same number of boys and girls are graduating from high school and even more girls are graduating from college, yet women are still underrepresented in STEM industries. Though women comprise more than half of the workforce in the U.S economy, they hold less than twenty five percent of jobs in STEM industries.
Less and less girls are choosing career in STEM fields causing a growing gender gap as well as a decline in many STEM fields. Now one may wonder what is STEM? The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. (Lawerence-Turner Jody, 1) There are many reasons that few girls are choosing careers in STEM fields. This is due to many factors such as socialization, lack of exposure, and lack of female role models. (Danae King, 2) A growing issue
Have you wondered what would be the best degree to have in your life? The STEM vs. Humanities argument is a decades-long debate, but in this new era, the answer is quickly becoming clear. The STEM field is rapidly growing, with new and innovative advances. STEM degrees are becoming increasingly useful for young adults, far ahead of humanities and liberal arts degrees. STEM majors make more money, are better employed, and are better educated and prepared for work. STEM graduates are making nearly $16,000 more than their liberal arts counterparts and are more likely to hold a full-time job. The job market for STEM fields is also favorable for young adults, with the unemployment rate of STEM majors being a full 1.6% lower than the unemployment
Video games have come a long way. They have evolved from the simple game of Pong into a complex, multi-platform, multi-genre, multi-billion dollar industry.
Sports video games, video games that replicate a real life sport, have been around ever since the first video game console was released . Magnovox Odyssey, one of the first video game consoles, consisted of a table tennis game. Atari’s Pong, another sports video game, one of the very first video games was also a replica of table tennis (Suellentrop 7). As the video games have become more realistic and more popular amongst sports fans, they have created a vast impact on the video gaming industry. FIFA, a soccer video game by EA sports, captured 10% of the 351 million video game playing soccer fans around the world (Consalvo vii). Today, sports are a popular hobby for many people, but
Video game design and development works in several different ways. Most of which happen all at once. Each game designer is tasked with a different part of the game. Some create the plot and characters of the story. Others work the layout, gameplay, level design and scoring of the game. Then, there’s the art portion of the game. These artists work on the concept art, the 3D modeling and the overall look of the game. Finally, there’s the programming side of the development. This focuses around
Video games are electronic sports which involves user interface and user interactivity. They generate a visual response which helps to provide excitement and entertainment. Video games are played on computers, televisions, or any kind of device with a display screen. People play video games for fun and also because some games are more productive and useful. With growth in technology video games have become very popular in children. Those games can be informative and a brain-builder for children but at the same time it may be so violent that they not only become the reason for the children to be destructive but also vigorously increase anti-social behavior.
There are many things in life that I can do to make me happier as a person. You still have to put others before yourself. That is something that I can see giving myself the most joy by changing somebody’s day and making it better. I can think of times when my girlfriend or friends were not having a good day so I did everything in my power to cheer them up. I would make silly faces, noises, and tickle them to cheer them up.
One career in the technological industry is a computer engineer. A computer engineer is a person who designs hardware or software for computers. Computer engineers do research to determine what people want and need to make their lives easier. Computer engineers sometimes work on a team to think of new ideas and concepts. Engineers generally should like activities of a technical nature, problem solving, and math. An engineer should probably like working with numbers and thinking logically.
