Throughout my time in the early years of my education I have developed a speculation where I noticed many students who take specific courses in their life end up despising or claiming they are just not good at a certain area of study. This always intrigued me when it came to science courses, I saw my classmates and friends struggle and condemn a course because of its difficulty for them. Eventually, I started to question this speculation and try to understand why I enjoyed courses others did not. After realization I found that ever since I could remember I have been exposed to science and grew up fascinated by every aspect. I was grateful to have a diverse family where some of them graduated with a science degree, this helped me realize early …show more content…
This field of study is most compelling to me ever since my step father who has a major in biology helped me in my first biology course in high school. Since, I discovered that I wanted to attain a degree in biology it made me question what I wanted to do with this knowledge in the real world. Coming from a large family where almost every adult has pursued a professional career through a higher education, I’ve had the pleasure to experience and understand what it means to be a part of their chosen professional career in the work force. The adults in my family have very different and diverse occupations that I have been able to learn about, each of their professional careers have intrigue me in a unique way. However, out of all the careers out there and at an opportunity to pursue, the medical field has been the most interesting to me. Partly due to my uncle who is an oral and maxi facial surgeon, ever since I have been around him and listen to him talk about his career it has been the most impactful in my life. During the summers I’ve had the opportunity to shadow him and work in his building for free and watch his every day work, as well as volunteering in hospitals. After this unique and valuable experience, I knew it was what I wanted for myself and my professional career in my
All the various factors that lead me to dentistry amounted to just a part of my decision to become a dentist, the other half of my decision came from the simple question, “(w)ill this be a satisfying career for me?” A satisfying career, to me, is defined by whether or not I can use my career as a means to assist others and experience a sense of accomplishment and self-gratification in helping others. The notion of a satisfying career was one that came through personal experiences. Being a former Medicaid recipient, I was thankful to those that worked in the public health sector to help those in need, including myself and my family. Through my past experiences, I felt obligated to reciprocate the resources and assistance that I had received. At the end of my career, I hope to reflect back on my career and experience a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment for having helped others throughout my career; this is what will amount to successful career, from my point of view.
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.
My search for a career began when, as a college freshman, I chose neuroscience as my major. Surprisingly, this became the starting point for my veterinary career. It opened doors to exciting research and medical opportunities, including a short-lived interest in human medicine. My father being a gastroenterologist, human medicine represented a familiar and respectable career path. As a result, I shadowed several human medicine specialists. Although I did not find it as appealing as animal medicine, I discovered empathy for people and the desire to make a difference in both human and animal lives.
I want to learn more about the medical field. I am very fascinated in the science aspects. You need to be attentive; sensitive to people’s needs and have a drive to address their needs in an utmost concerned manner. It is one of those jobs that require long working hours and often one must overlook one’s needs and cater to patients. I am a sensitive and very hard-working individual.
I began my college career unsure of the path ahead of me. I knew I had a passion for medicine, however, I did not know which direction I would take. With the expansive amount of options offered within the fields of science and medicine, it was difficult to narrow down exactly what direction I wanted to take. I gained some clarity the summer of my sophomore year when I stayed at a close friend’s home, whose father, a practicing Medical Physician, became somewhat of a mentor to me. The passionate way in which he discussed the practice of medicine led me to develop an interest in pursuing a career as a physician. He explained that a career in the medical field was about responsibility, the responsibility to work with all members of the healthcare team for the well-being of the patient as well as their family
My childhood unleashed a desire. A desire of dressing up and playing with pretend medical instruments which soon flourished into using real surgical instruments as a dental nurse. My love for the health field combined with my compassionate manner lead me to become a carer and now into a more specific interest as a Operation Department Practitioner; and in the future a plastic surgery assistant.
I wanted to find out what others thought about science classes, so talked to a few students taking high school science classes as well as some taking college classes, and received all positive things about the importance and significance of taking science classes. One high schooler said, "Science is on a spiritual level, without science there is no life, and without life, then what is there" while another added, "Science makes you think about the important stuff because it's in everything. I think it's really good to know even if you don't think so at the
I chose to become a dentist as being a child I had to visit a dentist many times for correction of malaligned teeth that i had. So my dentist who was also a specialist in the field of orthodontics inspired me deeply as it gave me a vague idea of how can i also bring smile and self confidence back to an individual by providing him with a competent smile again by incorporating the blend of my hand creativity and mental alertness, same as my dentist did for me thus returning me my self esteem and the confidence to smile again .Thus i found this field very satisfying and fulfilling.
I want to earn my Master of Science in Biology from University of Nebraska, Kearney, with an emphasis in either cellular biology and physiology or genetics and molecular biology. As one of the best and one of the few universities to offer an online master’s program in biology, I expect you receive many more requests for entrance than you have positions to offer. This leaves the question, “Why offer this opportunity to me?”
I am majoring in biology with pre-med here at Campbell. I have been fascinated with the sciences since I was a little kid. I am pursuing my interest in science by studying biology here at Campbell. I chose biology as my major because I want to obtain a career in research. It is more important to me that I pursue my passion with my career rather than choosing
Growing up surrounded by a family of dentists, some may believe that logically, I would want to carry on the family tradition and enter the field of Dentistry. Those people would be correct, however I hope to advance my education further than a dentist and specialize in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon combines the skill of Dentistry with the specialization of a Surgeon. He not only removes wisdom teeth, but also restructures the faces of trauma victims. With his education, he combines the best of both worlds, Dentistry and Surgery.
When someone is passionate about something, you can see it radiate through their smile, hear it resonate in their voice, and feel it’s energy emanate from their enthusiasm. Talking about biological topics such as protein function, DNA regulation, and cellular communication makes my heart rate jump to about 120 beats per minute and my eyes double in dilation. This partly because I always get excited when someone actually wants to listen to me talk about biology. The other part of my enthusiasm stems from my genuine passion about all the small, forgotten, but undeniably necessary events that make life on this planet possible. I can vividly recall the first time someone showed me how amazing biology could be.
As a young girl, I remember my first Encyclopedia Britannica that I received as a present from my parents. It was in this very book I first saw a colorful illustration of the cell. At the time, the fact that a complex organism like us being made out of a microscopic unit seemed inconceivable. Upon delving into the subject, I was captivated by the field of Biology and have been ever since. Since childhood, my growing curiosity and a penchant for science, especially biology prompted me to choose the course B.Tech Biotechnology in B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent University for my undergraduate degree.
I like to think of my passion as a system of equations; it lies directly at the intersection of science and service. My interest in Biomedical Science is as vast as the field itself. First of all, I am fascinated with the diverse processes occurring in the body, and this major will enable me to explore numerous related disciplines including immunology, neuroscience, oncology, and genetics. These disciplines will prepare me to competently serve the medical needs of all while stimulating my inquisitive nature. I am confident that this program will challenge me to apply my creativity to the field of medicine in my quest to be part of a medical team that solves today’s most pressing medical threats.
My interest and curiosity in dentistry brought out the best of me, so I decided to volunteer in a dental lab where science and art go hand in hand to create dental restorations. By doing this, I was able to study teeth anatomy which enabled me to gain the knowledge and experiences that I needed to shadow the dentist. Having
