Cognitive milestones occurring from infancy to adulthood, and they influence and shape an individual’s future. Although, not all children have difficulty due of the cultural difference, however studies have shown that culture and socioeconomic status have an impact during cognitive growth. Culture influences cognitive milestone, because of the effects of social segregation still exist in our society, which plays a vast role in achievement gap. Socioeconomic status also has an effect on the child, because they lack or have abundant amount of learning resources.

According to Piaget, Hypothetico-deductive reasoning is solving a problem using a hypothesis or predicting the outcome from using logic (253 Berk). Logical thinking improves during the adolescence. In Piaget’s pendulum problem, adolescent participates were given different weight and length of string and told them to figure out a way to make the pendulum swing through the arc. Adolescences feel that they are always the focus of everyone’s attention and concern. This audience makes them self-conscious, and self-focusing and avoids embarrassments. Teenagers spend hours perfecting their appearance and don’t take criticism well from the public. This milestone occurs because of the physical and psychological changes they are experiencing (255 Berk). Gender role in imaginary audience have a greater impact on females compared to males. Else-Quest’s studies measured difference of self-conscious and embarrassment behavior between genders. Females are more self-couscous to embarrassment compared to males. Females are more concern with their body, food, and trends than the opposite gender, which makes them more self-conscious of their appearance and their surroundings (947
