Worldview Part 1: What is a worldview Having a worldview is how a person looks at the world around them. We all have different worldviews because we all have different lenses that we look through. As we get older our worldview grows and as we build our relationship with God our Christian worldview changes and develops. Our worldview lens is influenced by our own thoughts as well as outside influences that help develop our values. Having a Christian worldview unites us in what we believe as Christians. Our Christian worldview helps to provide the framework that is necessary to make decisions based off of the life that God laid out in the Bible. 106 Words Part 2: What is Believed 1) The Question of Origin The question of origin and how …show more content…
did everything come to be is the foundation for our Christian worldview beliefs. The Bible is our guide book that tells us how God laid out all that he created step by step. God created the earth in seven days, the heavens and everything ex nihilo “out of nothing(Gen.1:1).” Everything has a beginning except for God, he was there in the beginning and in our Christian worldview we never doubt that God planned and created everything perfectly. In the New Testament John says “All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being (John 1:3).” 2) The Question of Identity When we look at ourselves in the mirror we can see how God looks. Adam and Eve were created by God and created mankind in his own image (Gen. 1:27). God created the earth with a hierarchy so we would have more authority than anything else on earth. He tells us that one of the purposes on earth is we are to rule over animals and anything that “has the breath of life in it (Gen.1:28-30)”. Even though God created us over the animals and we were given the responsibility of being their caretakers (Gen. 2:15). 3) The Question of Meaning/Purpose Most people ponder the question as the question “why am I here and why do I exist?” God provides the answer to us that we were created by him and for him. (Col.1:16) He wants us to have a relationship with him so we can grow closer each day. Jesus tell us that we must “Love the Lord with your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (Matt. 22:37).” Our purpose on this earth should be to seek him and please him not to chase all of the other things that we can be sidetracked by while we are on earth. We need to focus on eternity rather than the here and now as that is not what God wants us to work on during our time on earth. 4) The Question of Morality Morality and ethics is one of the biggest hurdles in a Christian worldview.
We must use the Bible to determine what is right and what is wrong. It is so easily to be distracted with things of this world that we can lose focus on what our second purpose on earth should be “to love our neighbor as we love yourself (Matt.22:39)”. We should live by the golden rule to treat others as we want to be treated and as God designed us to show and give love to those around us. Because Adam did not follow God by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden we all are in need of redemption. No one is above sin and we need to know that we “have sinned and we fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23).” We can only achieve our redemption by grace though faith from God. It is God’s gift to us so that once again we may be with …show more content…
Him. 5) The Question of Destiny Once we have lived our life there are only one of two places that we will end up either Heaven or Hell.
In Revelation, we see that they are both “literal places where people exist eternally either in the presence and blessings of God in heaven (Rev. 21:1-7) or in a state of separation from God, being punished in hell (Rev. 20:11-15).” It is our hope as Christians to live a live worthy of God and that we will be with him in all of eternity because we chose to look through our lenses with each choice, thought, or action while we were on earth. We must choose a life with God by saying yes to him in all that we do. We must also believe because Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead that we have any chance of being in Heaven with him. We must be baptized so He will forgive us so we may have an eternal life with him. Paul wrote that we must “believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household (Acts
16:31)” 698 Words Part 3: Biblical Worldview Beliefs Voting in the last election was the easiest time that I have ever had. As I have grown and matured in my walk with God answers to questions have become more clear. When I was younger I often voted the poplar way and did not seek God’s wisdom. When I was, younger I did not have, the clarity thought the lenses that I have today. God speaks to me though His word and it was very clear from reading the Bible where I needed to vote according to God’s words. I love the job that I have today but have often looked at my life and known that God is training me for more. I am not sure all he has for me right now but I know through school and prayer that he will lead me where I need to be. Little by little his is developing my mind and my heart to do more for him and his kingdom. I will follow all that he prompts me to do trusting that he has all of the answers because he is God. 183 Words
As ancient Rome began to fall, Christianity began rising. Around 2,000 years ago, Jesus of Nazareth was born, later to be known as the Messiah or Son of God. When people of the Roman era began to hear of such a powerful being, they began to convert to Christianity. Why did Christianity take hold on the ancient world; Christianity took hold on the ancient world because it offered immortality, equality, and it was spread like wildfire.
A Christian worldview leads us to believe in moral absolutes, miracles, human dignity, and the possibility of redemption. True Christianity is more than a set of ideas used at church. Christianity, as taught in the Bible, is itself a worldview. The Bible never dis...
What is a worldview? A worldview is an idea or thought that manifest in our brain but is originated from how we perceive and feel towards events that happen during our life. The opinions we express outwardly in action disseminates to others with whom we surround ourselves with, and vise versa. Collectively we take in worldviews and judge them to our own view, and settle on a conscious agreement to what we hold to be truth.
Worldview is how you view certain views from a certain perspective, such as a Christian worldview would be how you view certain views from a Christian perspective. Everything in life is affected by worldview and everyone has one. As Christians, our worldview is using the Bible for our starting on our views. An example of a worldview is, according to the article “What is a Christian Worldview?”, “Christianity as taught in the Bible is itself a worldview.” 77 words.
Christian Worldview is specific and one that focuses on gods teaching through, scripture, prayer, chapel and the bible. Christians live to Gods words and become a product of God by using his scriptures to live by. Humans must put their trust in God and let him guide their lives. In order to have a good relationship with God you must have faith and ask for forgiveness when needed. This worldview can be explained by answering who God is, who Jesus is, how humanity goes into being a Christian, and how to solve the problems of humanity.
A worldview is a particular philosophy of life or conception of the world. Everybody has their own opinion of a worldview. To me, a worldview is the perspective in which one person views the world. Norman Geisler and William Watkins see a worldview as this, “A worldview is a way of viewing or interpreting all of reality. It is an interpretive framework through which or by which one makes sense of the data of life and the world.” When they say “an interpretive framework” they are talking about seeing a worldview as a pair of glasses. When you put on your pair of glasses you see the world clearly. When you put on someone else’s glasses you may not see things as well as they see them. If the prescription for the glasses is someone else’s, then you would more than likely see through them distortedly. Now if you have the proper prescription, the glasses will help you see the world clearly. This is analogous to worldviews. Prescription glasses can either hurt or help your eyes, as your worldview will either hurt or help your mind as it tries to understand the world. If your worldview shows the truth of God’s Word, then that worldview will help you see the world clearly as it is supposed to be seen. If your worldview is that there is no belief in God, then when you look at the design in nature, you have to see something other in design. You have to see an accident that happens to look like a design. Just an example; when you look at Mount Rushmore, do you see design, or do you see an accident? You have to see design, because there is no way that the rocks that are carved out of Mount Rushmore just had accidentally happened. A worldview can tremendously influence the way someone lives there life. If you are looking from t...
My own definition of worldview is set of beliefs about the most important issues in life and my reaction to it. While in agreement with Jeff Baldwin’s eyeglass concept, I choose to compare my Christian worldview to an internal navigational system. When I am lost and need to be found, Christ is omnipresent. He knows my location and guides me into another direction. “It’s a roadmap, a guide for getting around in life, for interpreting reality, and for making choices” (The Importance of Worldview, 2011, p.11). Hopefully my final destination will be in the “city of gold, as clear as glass” (NLT, Revelation, 21:18).
The biblical worldview is essentially the integration of fundamental biblical teachings to become a meaningful and unified response to the routine opportunities and challenges of modern life. An individual wholly inscribed into a biblical worldview projects a belief system that the core purpose of existence is to love and serve the Lord God alone. Essentially, a Christian worldview is formed in reference of the infallible living Word of God (Tackett, 2014). After a believer fully believes the living Word of God then allows it to form the basis of everything in their life. That implies, for instance, that when a believer chooses to pursue Romans 13 to respect people in authority then must take priority in voting and electing new leaders into power. A bible believing person should lead a life that portrays the biblical teachings and truths. As practical Christians our gut reaction should be limited to the biblical established truths (Wayne, 2014).
Christian faith and Ethos is the class I am taking this term. The professor 's name is Reverend Leroy Leach Jr. The class is about God, the creation, and how to read the Holy Bible.
All people have a worldview that is based on personal beliefs forming their reality and what they feel is meaningful in life. I am a Christian of faith that has a biblical worldview, which is based on the word of God. The Book of Romans 1-8 provides the word of God and answers for how Christians can live a righteous life for our savior Jesus Christ.
Although we may not all see eye to eye, we all still have our own worldview. The central idea of a worldview is to be the different beliefs that is an understanding of how we see the world around us. It will be understood by how a person feels about different emotions and ideas that are encountered on a daily basis. A worldview is a response of our heart or inner being: our intellect, emotion and will. (Weider, Gutierrez,59) We create our own personal worldview based on things we believe are true and norms to society. A worldview perspective shapes, influences, and generally directs a person's entire life. (Samples 2007)
What is Christianity all about? What are the basic beliefs of Christianity and how did it begin? According to (AllAboutReligion, 2010),” Christianity began about 2000 years ago in Judea, [presently known today as Israel] with Jesus Christ and His faithful group of disciples”. This paper will address the viewpoint of the Christian faith and its outcome. The central message of Christianity is based upon the teachings of Jesus and his promises. Christianity teaches that there is merely one God in all existence and that God created the universe. It also teaches that Jesus is the only way to be set free from the coming judgment of God and that Jesus desires his values and his standards to abound. Moreover, Christianity is the only religion that offers a savior. Religion has been in every culture since the beginning of human society and there are many religions competing for the heart of humanity throughout the world at large. The following characterizations are based on the Christian faith: redemption, covenant and grace. Although Christianity is a matter of choice for the human race, what type of influence did it have on the China, Africa, and Rome inhabitants?
Christianity: followers of Jesus or Messiah they have over 2.2 million followers in Europe and America. Christians have the Bible that they go based on the Old Testament and New Testament. They celebrate holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Saint’s Day, and Baptism. They also symbolize themselves with cross, dove, anchor, fish, alpa/omega. It is considered to be one of the largest religions in the world.
God knows that humans are not perfect, he witness this the day that Adam and Eve disobeyed him. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:16-17 .)Although with the advice that God had given Adam and Eve they still made a decision to disobey God, but he did not lose hope for them ever after the decision they made once they were told not to do it. Each and every day that they lived after they committed their wrong doings, they were given a chance to redeem themselves. God did not put death upon them right away, he gave them the time to regain his trust back. As years went by and the species of mankind grew and grew, and the sins were committed by humans each and every day countless times, he sent his only begotten son on earth, who was tortured by the ones he was trying to save. He sacrifice his son so that his son shall walk this earth again proving that he is the son of our father’s and that there is a life and hope after death on earth. God set rules for humans to live by, and although most still do not follow his word, he does not instantly give up on
Excepted, however, shall be those who repent and attain to faith and do righteous deeds: for it is they who will enter paradise and will not be wronged in any way (19:60)
