"It was my duty to shoot the enemy, and I don't regret it. My regrets are for the people I couldn't save: Marines, soldiers, buddies. I'm not naive, and I don't romanticize war. The worst moments of my life have come as a SEAL. But I can stand before God with a clear conscience about doing my job." This is what the most successful sniper said about his job. His name is Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle lived an extraordinary life, with a wild early life, a loving family; he joined and served in the military, was robbed, was shot and killed by a psychopath, had a huge funeral, and wrote a bestselling book in his lifetime.
Chris lived a very normal childhood. Chris Scott Kyle was born on the 8th of April in 1974. His father was a church deacon and a Sunday

school teacher. They lived in a rural part of Texas on a cattle ranch. His father worked at Southwestern Bell causing the family to have to move all across Texas. Chris said he started appreciating guns around the same time he started learning how to read and write. He was a natural hunter. He and his friends use to love having BB gun wars. At the age of eight his father got him a Springfield rifle. Kyle then got a shotgun. He would use these to hunt deer, quail, and pheasant (Adam Read - Norway and Australia. “Chris Kyle American Sniper.” Chris Kyle American Sniper | Chris Kyle American Gun | Chris Kyle Navy SEAL Early Years). Kyle also played sports. He was very good sportsman. In high school he played baseball and football. He also enjoyed fighting and sticking up for others. Chris would also followed the rule his father had set for him. The rule was to never start a fight. Chris however did find himself finishing most of the fights. Kyle loved horses and rodeos. Being from Texas, he was a little bit of a cowboy. He even became a professional bronco rodeo rider. However that did not last long due to a bad injury, causing him to get pins in his arm. Kyle went to Tarleton State to have fun. Instead of studying, he would get into fights or would go out partying. After two years of being there he decided to go back to the “Texan lifestyle of ranches and horses”(Adam Read - Norway and Australia. “Chris Kyle American Sniper.” Chris Kyle American Sniper | Chris Kyle American Gun | Chris Kyle Navy SEAL Early Years). Kyle had a very loving family, who would do anything for him.
His fathers name was Wayne Kenneth Kyle. Chris’s mothers name is Deby Lynn Mercer. He also had a brother by the name of Jeff. Not long after joining the Navy, Kyle met Taya Renae Studebaker at the Maloneys bar in San Diego. At the time she was a pharmaceutical drug rep who had just moved to San Diego from Oregon. She had been talking to one of Chris’s friends when she noticed him. They started talking about stuff when she asked him what he did for work. That’s when Kyle told her that he drove an ice cream truck. She figured out he was in the military. They even got into a small argument about it (Adam Read - Norway and Australia. “Chris Kyle American Sniper.” Chris Kyle American Sniper | Chris Kyle American Gun | Chris Kyle Navy SEAL Early Years). They would eventually get married. Together they had two children together. They had a son named Colton, and a daughter named Mckenna. Kyle gave his two children nicknames. He gave his son the nickname of Bubba, and his daughter nicknamed Angel. He gave them their nicknames instantly after they were born …show more content…
(Paparella). There is always a reason why someone decides to do something in their life. One of the decisions they might make is joining the military, and they always have some reason for why they are doing it. Kyle had just returned from Tarleton State. He was walking around the mall when he happened to walk past some military recruiters. Kyle sa id he wanted to talk to the Army recruiter, only he was on break. Sh he ended up talking to the Navy Recruiter. He did not want just the normal job in the military. He wanted to do something cool. That is when he found out about the SEALS. He was rejected after signing up because of the pins in his arm. He would end up trying out for basic schooling/course before SEALS, after they called him back. After he completed this he would go on and end up being a member on SEAL Team 3 (Adam Read - Norway and Australia. “Chris Kyle American Sniper.” Chris Kyle American Sniper | Chris Kyle American Gun | Chris Kyle Navy SEAL Early Years). Chris was in the United States Navy SEALS for a total of ten years.
Kyle served U.S. Navy SEALS from the year 1999 through 2009. As of right now he is known as the most successful and deadliest sniper in American military. In his book he said that the first kill he had was a woman with a grenade getting ready to launch it at the marines close to her. He saved the lives of all those marines. He would end up having a total of 160 confirmed kills, but he had a total of 255 claimed kills. A claimed kill is where you shoot the target, but you are not sure exactly if it kill the target or not. On his tour in Iraq, insurgents would call him the “Devil of Ramadi” and they had a bounty on him. The bad thing is they did not even know what he looked like. They had a picture of a different sniper on the flyers they hung in the local area. Kyle was shot a total of two times. He would also involved in a total of six IED attacks. An IED is a improvised explosive device, which is a basic bomb that is made and used by an unauthorized person. Kyle decision to leave the SEALS was based on family. He had a child that he had barely got to know because he was always overseas. Also it was putting a lot of pressure on his marriage. So he decided it was best for him to leave the SEALS, and was honorably discharged in 2009 (Adam Read). Chris served a total of 4 tours with the Navy SEALS. His latest tour was in Iraq. He showed a lot of bravery. Kyle was awarded some of the highest medals one can earn
in the Military. He was awarded “…two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation”(Schabner, Dean). It was a bad day for two men trying to rob someone. It was the year of 2010. It was a very cold January morning. Kyle pulled into a gas station off Highway 67, that is just south of Dallas (Mooney, Michael J). He just recently returned to Texas from the Navy. It was here where two men with pistols approached him and demanded that he give them his money. From there here looked each man up and down and sized them up. He looked to see which man was more confident with his gun (Mooney, Michael J). Kyle did not seem to bothered by this. Chris just told the robbers that he needed to reach into his truck to grab his keys. Kyle instead reached into his waist band and pulled out his Colt 1911 in his right hand. He fired twice at the first at the first man from under his armpit, hitting the man twice in the chest. He then fired two more shots into the second man’s chest. Both men dropped dead instantly (Mooney, Michael J). The police detained him and ran his license. Then after the police talked to the department of defense they let Kyle go.

Carlos had always regarded himself last, and placed his family, his brother and sister Marines, and his country first. Carlos always reminded himself of what Captain Jim Land taught him. "A sniper's best defenses are cover and concealment and long-range accuracy. Most important, one shot, one kill." With that strategy, Carlos Hathcock became the most famous sniper in United States History. While the standard reward on a US sniper was eight dollars, the head of the White Feather, as the enemies knew him was about 30,000 dollars. Maybe that was because his mission always came first.
In “The Sniper” the conflict is man vs man, which means main character is tasked with killing his enemy, but it proves to be quite a challenge. Even though there were many challenges the sniper followed through with his job and persevered even after he was shot in the arm. Wanting to kill his enemy, stay alive, and be one step closer to ending the war was his main goals. Being brave, he took off his hat, placed it on his gun, and raised it above the edge of the roof. Instantly the enemy shot at it and the sniper, pretending to be dead, waited until the enemy got up for him to shoot him. He did some quick thinking and, with determination, handled the conflict quite well.
In past history, heroes come in many different facets of life. The military has produced many of these heroes. Chris Kyle a United States Navy SEAL was one of those heroes. Chris grew up in various locations in Texas. His father worked for AT&T as a manager and they moved around frequently. Chris loved to fight as he stated “Somewhere along the way, I started sticking up for younger kids who were being picked on. I felt I had to look out for them. It became my duty. Maybe it began because I was looking for an excuse to fight without getting in trouble” (American Sniper, Chris Kyle, 21).
In the story, “The Sniper”, The sniper showed that he was an intelligent soldier. In the beginning, after Being shot by the enemy sniper the sniper took care of his wound and was able to compose himself and think of a plan. Thinking he had won the battle after the snipers successful decoy the enemy sniper dropped his guard and the second he did the sniper
In Liam O'Flaherty's "The Sniper," all of these. are brought to an acute reality in a single war-torn city. Strong cerebral convictions and opposing philosophies, due to which people want to destroy the seemingly “wrong” plague this world and are the ones who are the ones who are the main reason for the plight. To aid in his creation of such emotional conflict, turmoil and plight, the author has portrayed the sniper as a very controversial character in the story. This story is oriented around one character in the Civil War which he should not even be in as he is. mentioned to be a “student” in the story.
Take Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, for example. Although he had no desire to be in Vietnam, not to mention be leading troops there, it is evident that he is selfless in the pursuit of the war, and genuinely concerned about the welfare of his men. Unfortunately, he is blinded by guilt to these qualities.

Marcus Luttrell had told his fellow seals after they let the goat herders go that they would fight to the very last man and to the very last bullet they then dug themselves in preparing for them to ambush them. “When the navy sends their elite, they send the SEALs. When SEALs send their elite, they send SEAL Team Six, the navy's equivalent to the army's Delta Force --- tasked with counterterrorism and counterinsurgency, occasionally working with the CIA. This is the first time a SEAL Team Six sniper's story has been exposed. My story” (3). This captivating quote starts off Seal Team Six, a timely memoir about former Navy SEAL Sniper Howard E. Wasdin. The first paragraph starts his story and how he grew up to be one of the top snipers in the world. Although this is an amazing memoir, nothing is perfect. The first half of the book has the reader glued to the pages learning about Wasdin's life, but towards the end of the memoir the stories tend to get repetitive.
Chris Kyle, a name that comes with a lot of recognition; some good, and some bad. The most substantial title comes with being named as the most lethal sniper in United States’ history, with over one hundred, and sixty confirmed kills.
Chris Kyle, a U.S. Navy SEAL Veteran, was entitled to be the most lethal sniper in the military history of the United States. When he came home from Iraq, he had PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), which affected the way he perceived the world. He wrote the ¨American Sniper” to talk about what the veterans had to go through to pay the ultimate sacrifice. He also wrote this book as a way to reflect his PTSD.

Chris McCandless was really inspiring for trying to find love/happiness in another country. Most people would disagree but I mean who would travel across the world to just be in peace and away from society. Some people might but most people would think Chris McCandless is ridiculous for doing what he did.But I admire the courage he took to just gather up all the stuff he needed and left home to a whole new environment.Chris McCandless was not just inspiring but he showed us how to just have peace with in ourselves because in his life he didn’t care about materialistic things he was just living in the moment doing what he loved .That shows us how to really appreciate life a little more and it also makes us think outside the box we have to go out there and do stuff we love to do.
Many men enlist into branches of the military, and are nearly forced to change personalities. They are trained to kill, specifically in the army and marines, as second nature. In the short story Ambush, Tim O'Brien says, “I did not ponder the issues of morality or politics or military duty,” then continues to say, “I had thrown the grenade before telling myself to throw it.” (O’ Brien 812) He had lost all control his own body and mind because that’s what he was trained to do. It had brought out the worst in him and he knew it. He had felt ashamed because he lost who he was at that moment. Later, he goes to his friend, Kiowa, who basically de-humanizes the man the narrator had killed. He states that, “that it was a good kill,” as if he were talking about big game. (O’Brien 813) On a more sour note, there are the repercussions of war that can leave many veterans with things like PTSD, alcoholism, etc. These after effects can bring men to do things they never would have thought they’d do. There are many cases that have reported physically and emotional abuse from their loved one. There is always a fear of losing who you, or loved one, are during or after their
