Receiving a phone call from the Children’s Aid Society (hereafter referred to as CAS) can be a daunting and intimating experience. CAS has a level of authority and power and can leave an inexperienced worker feeling unnerved and unsure what to do. There are a few things that I would do in the case of receiving a phone call from someone who is claiming they are from CAS. While it may be easy to think this person is from CAS, it is important to find out whom this person is and if they are from CAS. First, I would put the put the caller on hold and call CAS directly on another line, once I have found out who this person is, I can proceed. CAS is extremely familiar with confidentiality; I would explain to Jane Miller that my clients have the
Children’s Social Care work with parents and other agencies to assess the stages of child protection procedures, record information and make decisions on taking further action. The police work closely with this agency to act on decisions made such as removing a child or the person responsible for the abuse while gathering evidence and carrying out investigations regarding the matter. Health professionals have a duty to report suspected non-accidental injuries to Children’s Social Care and examine children to give evidence of abuse. The Children Act 2004 requires every local area to have a Local Safeguarding Children Board to oversee the work of agencies involved in child protection, place policies and procedures for people who work with children and conduct serious case reviews when children die as a result of abuse. The NSPCC is the only charitable organisation that has the statutory power to take action when children are at risk of abuse. They provide services to support families and children and two helplines for children in danger and adults who are concerned for a child’s safety. They also raise awareness of abuse, share their expertise with other professionals and work to influence the law and social policy protect children more efficiently. There are also acts in place to protect children such as the Children Act 1989, the United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child 1989, the Education Act 2002 and the Children Act 2004. Legal framework from such acts are provided for Every Child Matters which requires early years practitioners to demonstrate that they provide activities that help children protect themselves. This may be through books and group talks known as “Stranger
In reality, employees do have to pass on certain information which is why the Health and Social Care Information Centre published guidelines that staff can follow regarding confidentiality (The Open University, 2015, p. 59). There are five rules within these guidelines, firstly, it states that any information about a person is to be
Unfortunately, many social workers overstep their boundaries and round up children to make it seem like they are needed, by lying about the amount of abuse cases. Many reports of child abuse and neglect have been proven to be false. False accusations can be reported by neighbors, anonymous callers, teachers, schools, and even social workers themselves (squidoo). CPS workers abuse their federal authority by manipulating people, lying, and profiting for the service and for the foster care worker.

Conversely, an off-duty recreational activity is a “reasonable expectancy” of employment if the employee is placed under direct or indirect employer influence and is pressured to perform said activity. If she passed the PPP fitness test, she could receive special benefits and, due to her past failures, received tips on how to practice from colleagues. Id.
To summarize, the three main ethical issues that arise in this problem are those of duty of confidentiality towards my client, conflict of interests and duties owed to the court. Even though at a first glance they might seem to be raising some difficulties, each of these matters can be resolved through tact, good communication and a diligent behaviour.

Some of Charles Loring Brace reasons to develop the Children’s Aid Society were to help the poor homeless and disabled children who couldn’t receive help and was difficult to receive help at that time. He also believed that he was sent to do missionary work than church ministry. He was also horrified by what he saw in the streets of New York. Brace was also against the orphan asylums they had back in the day where they send orphan children to get trained with manners. Which encouraged him more to make this organization. He also believed children should go to nice Christian families were they can work on farms, to extend the farms out in the west and in return these farmers and their family would treat these children as their own.
...be seen gave the author a clear vision on how child protection has developed. Looking at the death of children and discussing them also gave some answers on how children services have developed over time over the years. In the evaluation the author discussed Tthe benefits and challenges offered by inter-agency and inter-professional partnership work have also been considered and it has emerged . By weighing the pros and cons of the author finds out that there is limited evidence on the outcomes for children and families. Even though a number of outcomes were discussed by Atkinson et al., their review provides evidence on the outcomes from professionals’ view point. Therefore, their review is not representative. Perhaps more study based on the outcomes or children and families will provide us a better understanding of on how effective inter-agency working really is.
Child Protective Services For 30 years, advocates, program administrators, and politicians have joined forces to encourage even more reports of suspected child abuse and neglect. Their efforts have been successful, with about three million cases of suspected child abuse having been reported in 1993. Large numbers of endangered children still go unreported, but a serious problem has developed: Upon investigation, as many as 65 percent of the reports now being made are determined to be "unsubstantiated", raising serious civil liberties concerns and placing a huge burden on investigative staff. Unreported Cases Most experts agree that reports have increased over the past 30 years because professionals have become more likely to report apparently abusive and neglectful situations. But the question remains: How many more cases still go unreported?
Have you ever had your child taken by Children’s Aid Society, or removed from your home? If yes, do you mind explaining why (parent only)?
Confidentiality is imperative for a health professional's career and if breached can have serious consequences. The Term topic I chose to research about is Child Welfare Services. This topic has a variety of different regulations and forms that makes this program run. Child Welfare Services have been around for quite some time and has been helping out as much as they are allowed to. This program has a time line of many important events that all build up the Child Welfare program.
Home is a place where children are meant to feel good and comfortable. When a place like home is not available, many children are left with the only choice of living on the streets or an orphanage. Life can be very harsh to children especially if both of their parents died. When a child is left alone because of the death of his parents he becomes an obligation to his closest relatives. However, they are not obligated to take the child. Many family members might not want an obligation that big and refuse to take care of the child. During this decision, children start realizing that they are not wanted and start to feel neglected. This is when they are send to orphanages; however, they are not always put in orphanages because they have no family. There are times when a family can not maintain another person and decide to leave one of their children in an orphanage. Many people were told that God is the father of orphans and his bounty was to be shared with them. Even though this phrase says what had to be done, it was not done. Romans did not care for orphans nor widows. When Christianity started to affect Roman life, charity was something that grew. Orphans were put in children asylums and rules were established. Girls were to be taken care of until marriageable age. The boys were given tools and placed in a condition to earn their living.1 However, things were not always good for the helpless children.
