Should Childhood vaccinations against common infectious diseases be compulsory?

Many people worry whether childhood vaccinations work and therefore do not give their children the vaccinations. However, when people do not receive vaccinations against common infectious diseases this can put their children at risk from mild problems to very severe. This could affect them later on in life, so if they were compulsory this would stop. The main common infectious diseases for a child are Chickenpox, Measles, and Mumps, Slapped cheek disease (fifth disease or parvovirus B19). Measles is a highly infectious disease that can sometimes lead to serious complications. However, it is very uncommon in the UK due to the effectiveness of the disease. In the past, many diseases have been eradicated in countries thanks to childhood vaccinations. Even if, vaccinations cannot eradicate a disease nation-wide it could allow us to have immunity for life from it, as it says “Factors favoring eradicability of a condition through immunization include the following: a highly effective and safe vaccine (preferably cheap and quite stable), lifelong immunity after natural infection or immunization” (A.Hinman, 1999). This quote shows that vaccinations are also cheap and stable. The most important thing is they are safe as if you are immune from a disease, you do not have to risk getting ill from something else inside the vaccine. Also, some vaccinations can eradicate the disease so it becomes impossible to have. It helps prevent catching a disease, while the vaccination is safe and could give lifelong immunity. However, this would be at the expense of pain for a couple of days from the vaccine.
