Domestic violence is an epidemic in America. This is an issue that doesn’t discriminate any age or gender. Domestic violence includes physical assault, emotional abuse, sexual, assault, and battery. The problem doesn't only affect the victim being oppressed by it or the person enforcing it, it can also affect their surroundings. Like for instance, children. Childhood exposure to domestic violence can lead to significant problems of mental health, behavior, and adjustment issues to proceed into adulthood. The three important stages of human development are cognitive, biosocial, and psychosocial. Although many people categorize veterans with this disorder, what many people don't realize is that children who have encountered severe trauma can also be victims of PTSD. Their profession is to help victimized children that are exposed to domestic violence which can help the child from suffering long term consequences.
Domestic violence usually occurs behind closed doors, that’s why it can be so hard to indicate if it’s even occurring in the first place. People who oppress domestic violence can be very aggressive and usually threaten victims. That’s why exposed children to domestic violence are usually silent to the problem because they are afraid that seeking help can cause more danger for them.
