Imagine that you are living in a world where murders don't have to go to jail they they can just go home then go out and kill the next day.Well that is what we are doing when we let our child murders get away. I strongly believe that child soldiers are perpetrators for 3 simple reasons. One reason being that it is no different if it is in war time or not. I also think this because child soldiers have denied getting help. My third reason is that kid volunteer to be in the war and they don't have paperwork to track if they did or not.
What do you think of kids that are killing others when we are not at war? This quote from Debatewise will show you that crimes committed in wartime are no different than not in war time.“If a child can be convicted for murder under national law they should also be held responsible for international crimes. There should be no exception simply because the crimes happened during war time.” If your mom said that you need to go kill your brother because you will not have food

tomorrow you will have to do it or she might kill you. When you get into a trial you are not going to be treated like she brain washed you so why should it be different? You should ask yourself this question and you should see no difference. The only thing that could be different would be that it is in war time and that some had volunteered. When you look at it this way it looks silly to think that you are giving a voice to murders and you are giving them a second chance. That is exactly what I think. Ishmael Beah in an interview CNN said that,“When he was offered help he denied and keep denying until they made him get help.” He is telling people that he did not want help, that he wanted to keep fighting for his country so he wanted to keep killing. If fighting is so bad then he would have wanted to leave and he would not have wanted to stay. I do not understand why this man would want to fight if he knew that people could get him help. He had also said that, “My friends were offered help too and they had declined the help too.” With this mind set he thinks that killing is okay and killing is what you are supposed to do. I know that I would not want people running around with this mind set. Even with a lot of counseling you will never be able to get this mindset out of your mind. A lot of kids do actually volunteer for the army because they want to. Yes, that is right, a lot of children want to be soldiers and fight. Here is a quote from Debatewise that will support my position that child soldiers are perpetrators. “If a child has volunteered to be a soldier then they should be held accountable for their acts that they committed while in this role. It is going to say that all child soldiers are forced into fighting and they have no control over their actions.” This quote from Debatewise is crucial to my position because when we are in war and after we are in war how will we know whether these kids have volunteered for the war or if they were taken from their homes. With that said we could be giving killers that wanted to kill safety. Is that really what we want? If there is that risk why would we want to give any of the kids safety. One other reason that I believe that they are perpetrators is because when they are offered help they do not always want it. A lot of people tend to think that they do not try to go into the war but some actually do.
You might say that well they have paperwork that can tell if they wanted to go into the war or if they did not want to go into the war, but I strongly disagree because in third world countries they might not even have a birth certificate. From the video God Grew Tired Of Us the lost boys said that, “Lots of us they will never have even knew that we existed because we had no birth certificate or any paperwork.” So this raises the question of how do we exactly know who is who? Without the proper paperwork we will not know the difference between those who volunteer and those who do not, leaving thoughts to assume that all child soldiers are victims.Well that is what people do not know at the end of the war when they are going to give some kids amnesty and arrest the others. Did you ever think that we could actually be giving kids amnesty when they actually wanted to kill
people? After reading this letter you should really reconsider everything that you are doing for these kids that should be sitting in prison. Just because they are kids doesn't mean that they don’t want to kill people or can’t kill people. Please consider the consequences of not having these kids in a prison. We would be putting our population in great danger. If one of my family members was killed by a child soldier I would want them to go to jail. Would you want them to go to jail? Because I know that I would want them to.
In A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, Beah tells of his past in Sierra Leone as a boy soldier. As a child in the war, Beah and his fellow soldiers committed many acts of violence, including murder. This raises the question as to whether or not child soldiers should be held accountable for their actions. The answer to this question is no, they should not be, because as children, they are easier to manipulate, and their minds have become addled by much exposure to drug use and sleep deprivation.
As defined by Timothy Webster, author of Babes with Arms: International Law and Child Soldiers, a child soldier is “any person under the age of eighteen who is or has been associated with any kind of regular or irregular armed group, including those who serve as porters, spies, cooks, messengers and including girls recruited for sexual purposes (Webster, 2007, pp.230). As this definition reveals, a child soldier is more than simply a child with a gun. It is estimated that there are approximately 300,000 children under the age of 18, being used as soldiers in 33 conflicts currently, and this figure continues to rise (Webster, 2007, pp.227). Similarly, in 1999 it was estimated that more than 120,000 children, under the age of 18, were used as soldiers to fight ...
The first reason these kids shouldn’t be prosecuted or punished in any way is because it wasn’t their choice to be a soldier to begin with. According to Child Soldiers, Prosecution, most kids were forced to fight and had no choice of weather to enlist or not. There are about 200,000 child soldiers worldwide state's Armed and Underage, (Gettleman) and these kids are doing things their adolescent brains
Children at such a young age don't have the mental ability to think long term about their actions, especially when they are being forced or drugged. Some may argue that if child criminals get punished for their actions, then child soldiers should too, but that is just not the case. The difference being, child criminals choose to commit their crimes, child soldiers are forced to commit crimes. As an example, in the article Child Soldiers it states, “More often than not, children have no say in whether they enlist or not and once recruited the children have become brainwashed through the use of drugs and alcohol” (Child Soldiers).
Children have been used as soldiers in many events, however two that stand out are the use of child soldiers in the Sierra Leone civil war and the drug cartels in Mexico. Most people agree that forcing children to be soldiers is wrong and not humane. The people that make them soldiers transform them into belligerent beings by force. Child soldiers of drug cartels and the armies of Sierra Leone were threatened with their lives if they didn’t become soldiers. The lives of these child soldiers are lives that nobody should live. Situations in both countries are horrible because of the high number of youngsters that are forced to take part in drug use and are transformed into extremely belligerent and inhumane people; in addition they are deprived
Shockingly, many of them have often been spotted carrying very sophisticated weapons, and many weapons that can take down planes. child soldier is detrimental to peace and to children who are the future (British Job p6). most people are wondering why children are used as soldiers. the most basic reason is children are more obedient than adults, they can almost carry out every order from their commander.... ...

Children come to the armies too young to have their own morals, so the army can make them immoral (Kaplan). When they have no morals, the army can use them to do some of their dirty work, such as killing. When children are forced to kill in a war zone, their lives are put at risk. It is a two-sided war and there are people fighting back. This puts many people’s, including children’s, lives at risk, especially if there is an open fire....
Although not everyone knows it, there is a huge tragedy that is, and has been, going on even in this exact moment. That tragedy is children being taken out of their ordinary lives, whether by force or not, away from their families and into battle. No matter how much these children went through in the wars, the question still remains: once the war is over, should they be granted amnesty, or be prosecuted? The answer to this comes from thorough research. Child soldiers should be granted amnesty because they are unaware of what they are doing, they need help rather than prosecution, and many are forced to fight.
Imagine a ten year old innocent girl, her parents whom she dearly loved slaughtered in front of her, her siblings being sold into prostitution, slavery or to guerrilla forces as child soldiers. Rape, theft, murder, genocides and other injustice doing is her daily “playground”. Now stop imaging, the common American seems to be oblivious to current events going on worldwide, because such girls exist in war torn places such as Iraq, Syria and Democratic Republic of Congo. If Conscription, the practice of ordering people by law to serve the armed forces were enforced then we might not have to let ten year old girls endure such hardship. Conscription is being used in countries like Switzerland, Austria and Finland, their citizens will never have
Sometimes dealing with children can be a battle in itself, but in many countries, children fight the battles that adults have created. These young people are known as children warriors, soldiers, and combatants. The use of children in war is an unfortunate issue; but it is part of some people’s everyday life. Whether the child is fighting for their government or their life, they are often in constant danger. The foreign policies that have been put in place to protect children have yet to halt the ever-growing amount of children combatants.
My name is Karisa Cisneros and I reside in Mesa, Arizona. I am in the eleventh grade at Mountain View High School. Currently, I am enrolled in Holocaust literature and we are learning about genocide, not only the well known one in Germany, but around the world as well. One that really caught my attention was the genocide in Darfur, that is happening currently as you read this letter.
Essay: Child Soldiers Child soldiers, are any child under 18 years of age, who is a part of any kind of regular or irregular armed force or armed group in any capacity. Some of the most egregious use of young minors forced to fight took place in Burundi, Colombia, democratic republic of the Congo, Liberia, Myanmar, and Uganda. Around the world, thousands of boys and girls are recruited into government armed forces and rebel groups to serve as combatants, cooks, porters, messengers, or in other roles. The horrible and terrible fate of numerous unfortunate children is set on a path of war, murders, and suffering; more nations should help to prevent the tragedies and to end the suffering of these poor, unfortunate, innocent children. War, arguably a
Child Soldiers: The use of children in the military. Child Soldiers have three different roles in armed conflict. They can take a direct part in hostilities, or they can be used for support, such as sexual slaves, lookouts, messengers, and spies. Also, they can be used in the political aspect of war. Because many children have been physically or mentally damaged by their participation in armed conflict, children should not have any involvement in any armed conflict and should be removed indefinitely from warfare. Every child has the right to go to school, free from violence. Children have been used in the military for hundreds of years.
Throughout history the trafficking of humans and children has been widespread, not just in the past or in 3rd world countries, but around the world and to this day. Picture this: your family is extremely poor, all members share a room, and there's never enough food, add to that the possibility of an abusive family member and you’d be surprised how much worse life could be if sold into slavery. Working as a slave could mean long days with no breaks, verbal abuse, little food or time to eat, and harsh punishments if you can't keep up. This is the unfortunate reality for many, and that's only one possible form of exploitation.
