Recommended: Child abuse prevention and treatment act 1974

The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act is based on six main objectives. The first being that it should identify strategies for developing community based plans for preventing child abuse and neglect. Second it wanted to capture the attention of the federal, state, and local government, to bring to light the local child abuse and neglect programs to help need of abuse and neglected children. Third to help stimulate activities that will help improve state and local child protective services. Fourth it helps to identify new ways for prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect through research, service delivery, and advocacy to improve coordination with public agencies. The act seeks to address many needs of the children such as physical, developmental, and mental health needs of the victims of child abuse and neglect. Physically children experience burns, bites, bruises, and even broken bones. Children can experience developmental delays young children exhibit inability to manage stress. Some become frequently sad, worried, afraid, or withdrawn. Other children can develop strong negative thoughts about themselves or search for a strong need for approval or social support (Children’s, 2013). Our crucial brain development starts occurring at the age of three and continues on to adulthood. However, the development we experience in infancy differs from the pubescent stage. Around the age of puberty we develop planning, reasoning, emotion, and impulse control. Children who experience abuse or neglect have trouble fully developing their frontal lobe, which regulates impulses (Children’s, 2013). The act dedicates itself to promoting hope for the children that they will be able to supply ample opportunities to meet their needs such as, physically mentally and emotionally. They want to reach out to their community and to the government to help provide those services. When providing the services they hope to achieve excellence in their performance, to be innovative, and bring creative solutions. This brings us to integrity those involved and making the act possible want to uphold their ethical standards in making sure the right decisions are being made to help those in need. Through ethical soundness is also one part of how they show respect for the victims of abuse. They not only want to serve those in need, but they want to partner to make sure that all needs are being met.
