The automaker Chevrolet has experienced much technological change in the past 104 years. Although it, Chevrolet, is a French name, it is an American car company. It was primarily founded by William C, Durant, along with Louis Chevrolet, on November 3, 1911. It wasn’t until six years of existence that it became part of the Automotive Division at General Motors, otherwise known as GM. Durant had previously tried to buy out Ford and failed. This caused him to resort to co-founding Chevrolet. The first car sold by the company commonly called Chevy was the Classic Six, at the price of 2,500 dollars. The primary reason for the non-immediate success was that the company was not nationally recognized. In 1917, though Chevy joined General Motors which meant great change for the young automobile company, Since it was perceived as the major manufacturer’s lower priced brand of cars it helped sales increase. Within ten years, it was America’s top-selling car. In the Twenties Ford sold 3 cars for every 1 car Chevy sold, which obviously needed to change.
Over the next few years however, Chevy's continuous remodeling, unlike Ford's, caused Chevy to take first place. By 1925, Chevy was offering multiple trucks and cars. Chevy's were known for both style and class thanks to designer Harley Earl, who gave Chevy cars, like the 1932 Deluxe Roadster, the look of the luxurious Cadillac brand. Also he incorporated the first 'Knee-Action front suspension in low price category. In 1935, the Chevy Suburban was introduced. It was the first continuously produced line of truck based 'wagons', now known as SUVs. Chevy's style had similar characteristics to that of Cadillac, although Chevy's were priced much lower, like the Sports Roadster, priced around $445 during the Depression years. Over the past 81 years, the Chevy Suburban has become that longest continually produced vehicle 'nameplate' in the U.S., still having many of the same purposes now in 2016, as it did in 1935. They brought forth to the market a sportier Impala, the new Chevelle Malibu, Corvair, Corvette Stingray, and most notably, the first generation Camaro. Introduction of the Monte Carlo, C10 Pickup, Chevelle SS, and the redesigned Camaro brought a new look to Chevrolet. Gas prices though were rising and Chevy answered with smaller, lighter-weight, versions of cars they already produced like the Impala. The hatchback became a successful model produced. Also they introduced a new line of pick-ups, the Chevy Silverado in 1988. After a brief period of not being produced the Impala came back in 2000 along with the highly anticipated return of the Camaro in 2010. Also, due to the Recession in 2007, Chevrolet built the Hybrid Tahoe, to increase fuel efficiency in SUVs. After more than 100 years Chevrolet and Durant could not have dreamed of 214 million cars by their company. Chevrolet has experienced much change over the past century. It has achieved multiple accolades that commonly go unrecognized. Some of these include winning the most NHRA pro stock manufacturers cups. Also in racing, it has the most victories in NASCAR along with the most championships. In NASCAR it has 738 victories and has won 38 of the 57 championships. Outside of racing, it was the first car company to include 4G LTE Wi-Fi in their vehicles, a long overdue technological advance in automobiles. two-thirds of the world. Finally, Amazingly enough, Chevrolet sold a cars every 7.4 seconds in 2010. New cars like the Cruze, Volt, Sonic, and Spark, with all the cars along the way, have brought the once non-successful sapling of a company to a top-selling, 21st century automotive giant. I guarantee Louis Chevrolet and William Durant never thought their dream would achieve any of these amazing stats. They probably never thought it would become internationally synonymous with automobiles from the United States. The truth is though, it has. It has achieved goals other automakers are envious of. I am positive though, that Chevrolet will continue to grow in the future and dominate the American automotive landscape. After all, it has done that very thing for the past 104 years.

In conclusion, from the early 1950's and 1960's there has been two cars that have taken the American people by storm, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang. Both rivals have tried from day one to out do and out perform each other to bet the first to develop an affordable sports car that handles and performs like a $90,000 dollar muscle car. Each in its own right have established itself on the car market place with such creations by Ford for its 590-HP Super Stallion and Chevrolet for its 600-HP Big Block Camaro. The Camaro and Mustang have been looked at as the "First true American sports cars." They are arguably the two most rivaled sports cars of yesteryear and today. Louis Chevrolet was born on December 25, 1878 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. He growth around people who liked to repair things, his dad was one of them, a watchmaker, from him he learned all that he knew. Louis also enjoyed racing cars and bicycles. Chevrolet made a world speed record that made him famous. He invented Chevrolet’s company with his partner William C. Durant. On specific Louis Chevrolet invented a six cylinder automobile. He wanted to make a powerful engine and the result was a six cylinder model. Louis aspired something new and different from the other types of cars. But this was not all. On addition, he was the founder of the Frontenac Motor Company. Later on the Chevrolet brothers began to produce an aircraft engine called the Chevrolair 333.
Entering the 1950s, no corporation even came close to General Motors in its size, or it's profits. GM was twice as big as the second biggest company in the world, Standard Oil of New Jersey (father of today's Exxon Mobil), and had a vast diversity of businesses ranging from home appliances to providing insurance and building Buicks, Cadillacs, Chevys, GMCs, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs and trains. It was so big that it made more than half the cars sold in the United States and the U.S. Department of Justice's antitrust division was threatening to break it up(to prevent Monopolies, Like how Standard oil was broken up). In the 21st century, it's almost hard to imagine how powerful GM was in the 50s and 60s. Sports cars from Europe were getting popular, because of servicemen coming back from WWII, and wanted sports cars, but American Automakers didn't make sports cars, so they would either buy foreign, or go without. A man named McLean would still try to make a low priced sports car. But it didn't work. The idea of a car coming from GM that could compete with Jaguar, MG or Triumph was pretty much considered stupid and insane. C1:Generation: Bad but valuable. Just 300 Corvettes were made in 1953. Each of these first-year Corvettes was a white roadster with red interior. The Corvette was made of fiberglass for light weight, but the first cars were made with a really weak, (and kind of pathetic for a “sports car”) 150 horsepower 6-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Chevelle SSs' earliest engine in 1964 didn't perform as well as the later models. It had a 327 V8 engine which wasn't even close to as powerful as the later models. After a slow start, the 1965 Chevelle became a real muscle car. The car now had a lot more power since it had a 396 V8 engine, also known as the Z-16 package. For over a hundred years, competition has driven innovation in the car industry, thus the industry maxim “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” NASCAR and drag racing contributed greatly to muscle cars’ success. Muscle cars were born from these competitions as factory made race cars. Because of this, the muscle car quickly moved from a low quantity specialty item to the image of the American automotive scene. Under Armour and Nike are very close competitors in the athletic wear for sports and recreational use. Both Under Armour and Nike have goods and bads but at the end of the day Under Armour is a better company, with a better clothes line. Nike came out over thirty years before Under Armour, but Under Armour has by far surpassed Nike in popularity and style. At that time Buick Motor Company was a member of GM. over the years GM would acquire more than 20 companies, to include Opel, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile. Ford’s production plants rely on very high-tech computers and automated assembly. It takes a significant financial investment and time to reconfigure a production plant after a vehicle model is setup for assembly. Ford has made this mistake in the past and surprisingly hasn’t learned the valuable lesson as evidence from the hybrid revolution their missing out on today. Between 1927 and 1928, Ford set in motion their “1928 Plan” of establishing worldwide operations. Unfortunately, the strategic plan didn’t account for economic factors in Europe driving the demand for smaller vehicles. Henry Ford established plants in Europe for the larger North American model A.
