I would be against the Charter of Values as it contradicts various sections of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Those sections include; S. 27, S. 2 (a), S. 2 (b), and S. 15 (2). It is ridiculous that anyone would try to take away some of the basic rights and freedoms provided to Canadians and Canadian citizens. Freedom of religion is one of the basic human rights provided by the CCRF. Everyone has the right to freely express their religion. It is one of many things that makes society unique. Canada is a very multicultural country. In fact, Canada was the first country to adopt the official policy of multiculturalism in 1971. For example, unfortunately the Muslim religion is misunderstood sometimes. Alas, people of this religion are often tied, because of past and present actions of people who are or converted this religion, to terrorism. Different religions have traditions unique to their religions. However, when people don't understand something, they call it crazy. Marvin J. Ashton once said, “If we could look into each others heart's and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance and care.” Marvin J. Ashton must be a wise man, because the above quote is something that should be thought of often. If people look beyond all the stereotypes and try to understand each, maybe the ignorance many religions and/or ethnities face will lessen and subsequently stop. There is an organization called the Human Library Organization. This organization is a library, but the only real difference is that the “books” are human beings. The Human Library Organization's purpose is to provide a place for people to engage in dialogue about things such as prejudices in hopes of encouraging understanding and reducing
