Born to Julie and John Tapley in New Orleans, Louisiana, Charles Tapley grew up in Houston, Texas and started his professional career there. He earned a degree in architecture at Rice University in 1955. Tapley worked in three architecture and landscape architecture offices before becoming a registered architect in 1960 and a registered landscape architect in 1970 in Texas.
Tapley began his own practice Charles Tapley & Associate in 1960. Encompassing urban planning, sustainability, environmental preservation and conservation, his firm was recognized for numerous designs throughout Houston. In the early 1970s, his firm helped developed the 6.3 mile long Buffalo Bayou Park, which is now 160 acres of stunning views, trails, hikes, riparian plantings, and natural landscapes. The park includes a tributary named after Tapley as well, demonstrating wetland habitat benefits. His passion for waterways and open space continued to show in his other design. Tranquility Park, built in 1979 in the heart of downtown Houston, beautifully incorporates open space with water, lighting, and a mixture of materials, also honoring the first manned landing on the moon.

Tapley retired in 2011. Among many other awards throughout his career, Tapley received the AIA Houston’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Thomas Jefferson Award in 2012. He was also named Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Richard Morris Hunt was an American architect born in 1827. Hunt was born in Brattleboro, Vermont. His dad was a lawyer and US congressman, so their family had lots of money. He first attended Boston Latin School, and then in 1943 when his father died, he traveled to Europe to study art and architecture. In 1846 he would become the first American to attend the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, the finest architecture school in the world. He finally settled in New York in 1855, where he made it his goal to raise the standard of design.
The Carroll family then packed up and moved to Lexington Kentucky, where he worked at the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation office. In 1954, he earned a bachelor’s of arts in political science degree from the University of Kentucky. He then would attend the University of Kentucky’s school of law where he earned his law degree in 1956. For the next five years he practice law as a military lawyer at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas, as well as serving with the Paducah law firm of Reed, Scent, Reed, and Walton before beginning his political career in 1961.

In January of 1826, Cole had become to be known for founding the National Academy of Design. During this time, many would comission him to paint pictures of American scenery, but his primary desire and goal, he says, was to create a “higher style of landscape that would express moral or religious tones.” In 1836, Cole married Maria Barstow and settled in Catskill, New York. Catskill would obviously become the inspiration for his piece, “Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River”. From these paintings he influenced many other artists. Among these artists were Frederick Edwin Church and Albert Bierstadt.

He spoke up and stood up for himself even when he was alone. Although the eleven jurors plead the boy guilty, they were being non rational. They did not have enough evidence to accuse the boy guilty they just based it on the little boy’s culture and where he came from. Therefore, the architect saw things differently and wanted true justice and fairness. He wanted the other men to be reasonable and to look at other outcomes that could possibly not make the boy guilty. The architect was very effective, some of the traits he displayed were creativity, desire to lead, fair-mindedness, rapid information processing, self-confidence, trustworthy, and a democratic leader.
