Charles grew up in a wealthy family and had everything pretty much going for him. He was always full of curiosity coming up, always wanted to know how different things worked, and would try different experiments. "Charles always tried various experiments. One of these, after he'd read the New Testament account of Jesus walking on water, was an attempt to walk on water. He didn't use faith or magic, but science, with the help of a mechanical device he made out of two planks held together with hinges." (Josepha Sherman, page 16) Aside from the wealth they had poor health, in London there was pollution everywhere and all kinds of toxicants in the air. This caused Charles siblings after him to die before they reached to age of one. Charles did all of this to try and establish commercial aviation in the US. He then thought one of the greatest ways to do this was to be the first man to fly from New York to Paris. He left from New York and he was able to fly all the way to Paris. The news really helped spread the word about him and now he was a hero for people all over the world.

Charles Robert Darwin was an English naturalist who was born in Shrewsbury, England on February 12, 1809. He was the second youngest of six children. Before Charles Darwin, there were many scientists throughout his family. His father, Dr. Robert Darwin, was a medical doctor, and his grandfather, Dr. Erasmus Darwin, was a well-known botanist. Darwin’s mother, Susannah Darwin, died when he was only eight years old. Darwin was a child that came from wealth and privilege and who loved to explore nature. In October 1825 at age sixteen, Darwin enrolled at Edinburgh University with his brother Erasmus. Two years later, Charles became a student at Christ’s College in Cambridge. His father wanted him to become a medical doctor, as he was, but since the sight of blood made Darwin nauseous, he refused. His father also proposed that he become a priest, but since Charles was far more interested in natural history, he had other ideas in mind (Dao, 2009)

Many inventors have left their mark on society. One inventor, in particular, is commonly found at the top of the list of the greatest inventors in world history. He has influenced and impacted many facets of our lives. His inventions laid the foundation of many industries and products which still exist today.
As mentioned earlier, he goes back to Paris to try to save a former servant, no matter how naive the plan is. This showed his integrity and the intention to keep every promise no matter how much it cost him. He is also decidedly honest and upfront with the Manettes about his family and background. Charles Darwin, born in 1809, was raised by his two Christian parents. Naturally, young Charles openly embraced the ideas of Christianity, and adopted many religious practices into his own life. By the 1830’s, Darwin had developed a strong desire to study natural history and natural theology, or anything that related to divine design in nature. In 1831, Darwin was invited on a trip of his lifetime: to sail around the world studying Mother Nature’s different types of life. At 22 years of age, thus began Darwin’s 5-year long voyage on the vessel HMS Beagle with his fellow scientific scholars.

Computer engineering started about 5,000 years ago in China when they invented the abacus. The abacus is a manual calculator in which you move beads back and forth on rods to add or subtract. Other inventors of simple computers include Blaise Pascal who came up with the arithmetic machine for his father’s work. Also Charles Babbage produced the Analytical Engine, which combined math calculations from one problem and applied it to solve other complex problems. The Analytical Engine is similar to today’s computers.
Dickens’s mother sent his brothers and sisters into prison with their father, and arranged that Charles should live outside the prison and work with other children.
When Charles turned sixteen, He and his brother, Erasmus Darwin, enrolled at Edinburg University. Even though he gave the impression that he didn’t learn anything there, his studies were very successful. He learned many things by many people. For example, he learned about the chemistry of cooling rock on primitive earth and learned how to stuff a bird by a freed South American Slave.
In 500 B.C. the abacus was first used by the Babylonians as an aid to simple arithmetic. In 1623 Wihelm Schickard (1592 - 1635) invented a "Calculating Clock". This mechanical machine could add and subtract up to 6 digit numbers, and warned of an overflow by ringing a bell. J. H. Mueller comes up with the idea of the "difference engine", in 1786. This calculator could tabulate values of a polynomial. Muellers attempt to raise funds fails and the project was forgotten. Scheutz and his son Edward produced a 3rd order difference engine with a printer in 1843 and their government agreed to fund their next project.
Technology continued to prosper in the computer world into the nineteenth century. A major figure during this time is Charles Babbage, designed the idea of the Difference Engine in the year 1820. It was a calculating machine designed to tabulate the results of mathematical functions (Evans, 38). Babbage, however, never completed this invention because he came up with a newer creation in which he named the Analytical Engine. This computer was expected to solve “any mathematical problem” (Triumph, 2). It relied on the punch card input. The machine was never actually finished by Babbage, and today Herman Hollerith has been credited with the fabrication of the punch card tabulating machine.

Babbage’s remarkable life should be remembered for his achievements because without them, this world would not be the same.
