Along with affecting others, mental conditions make it challenging for individuals to maintain relationships, perform at work or school, and manage routine activities. Some individuals may feel discouraged and turn to self-isolation. In worst case scenarios, which are very common due to lack of treatment, they may resort to substance use, self-harm and even suicide. Character flaws too have significant impacts on people’s lives and can strain relationships and create conflicts. Primarily, traits like arrogance and dishonesty can be a hindrance to personal growth and self-fulfillment. They do not require treatment but a personal commitment to overcome them and sometimes may require advice and support from others, mentors or counselors. Everyone has at least has a flaw in their life. Nothing is perfect or else everything would move in peace loving harmony. If everything was perfect we wouldn't have to compete with one another. It is these flaws we have that make us unique individuals. Each of the main characters at least had a characteristic that stopped them from being with each other. Over the course of a lifetime, one experiences a multitude of thoughts and emotions. Collectively, these thoughts and emotions relate to one another as they affect one’s mental health and well-being. When there is one person in a relationship and they are diagnosed with a mental disorder, most of the time they take on more responsibilities than the other person does. Over time, without support, the person’s attitude and behavior can change.
These disorders are distressing to the individuals who experience them and they have a variety of detrimental side effects on the individual and on others. These behavioural and mental health problems are barriers for successful community placement and integration; they increase support needs; they are associated with physical restraints and pharmacological interventions; they impact family by causing stress and by imposing financial sacrifices and can weigh on staff time, energy and morale (Rojahn, Rowe, Kasdan, Moore & van Ingen, 2011).
Mental diseases affect a person’s motivation and will. Illnesses of the mind can make activities that were once fun and enjoyable the complete opposite. Most people diagnosed with mental disorders become more anxious when doing certain things, have completely lost interest in what used to be preferred, become too paranoid to relax, etc. Interests and priorities seemingly change. This also brings conflict into daily routines and sets off a chain reaction in one’s life. Abnormality has also been defined as a failure to function adequately (by not achieving some sense of personal well-being and making some contribution to a larger social group). Experiencing personal distress or discomfort, causing distress to others, and behaving in an unexpected or bizarre manner are often the reasons why people come to the attention of psychologists.

Many people look at those afflicted with mental disorders as being crazy or clinically insane, while the reality is a problem many people live with on a daily basis with help from medications, psychologist visits, family, friends, help groups, and many other support systems. The lack of support available to mentally ill patients, the more that will refuse treatment and refuse to find help for their disorders. Many people who were born with mental disorders grow up knowing they have a problem, but people who develop them later in age don’t understand how to cope with it.
When dealing with an individual that is suffering from a behavioral or mental illness can be challenging, due to the fragile balance within their life. Not only do these members have to deal with the day to day changes of life, they must also deal with the reproductions caused by this instability. Moreover, the stigmas associated in these various contexts can lead to a plethora of problems. Struggling to accomplish a certain assignment or not being able to speak properly, can all be signs of someone who is suffering from a mental illness.
