Along with affecting others, mental conditions make it challenging for individuals to maintain relationships, perform at work or school, and manage routine activities. Some individuals may feel discouraged and turn to self-isolation. In worst case scenarios, which are very common due to lack of treatment, they may resort to substance use, self-harm and even suicide. Character flaws too have significant impacts on people’s lives and can strain relationships and create conflicts. Primarily, traits like arrogance and dishonesty can be a hindrance to personal growth and self-fulfillment. They do not require treatment but a personal commitment to overcome them and sometimes may require advice and support from others, mentors or counselors.
