For many readers, Balzac is not interested in values, rather he is all about power and energy, which runs with money and sex. Balzac seems like he is doing a live soap opera adventure at several familiar places. There is a difference between a live soap opera and the actual book because the characters are more exaggerated and seem to belong more in an epic than in a middle-class drama. The novel dramatizes a lot of the characters and makes it seem like everyone is smart including the janitors. Also, his style of writing where most authors use linear timeline, but he creates a virtual reality in different places.
The book’s main protagonist is Cousin Bette, who is a poor and plain girl and is sheltered by the Baron family, however, she makes her own living and is a jealous and vengeful woman. Baron Hulot is a former Napoleonic officer who is an official in the Ministry of War. Bette bullied him and made him get a job and get classes for art and made him into her creation. The relationship between the two is very strong because she used up all her savings on his development. This is where Balzac gets his energy from because he loves financial troubles which helps him

The novel shows funny parts about how Hulot is chasing new woman almost every time as if it is the only thing worth living for. The book is entertaining for days and he shows you the difference between literature and fiction. Balzac 's approach on the book can be a cliffhanger, but he is able to put the reader in the scene and reveal the complexities of social interactions among the characters. Balzac can create scenes that draws the reader in and just gets hooked onto the book that they just have to continue to keep
In the Lilies of the Field by William E. Barrett, Homer and Mother Maria both display straightforward, hardworking, and stubborn character traits. Firstly, Homer and Mother Maria both display a straightforward personality by being brutally honest about their opinions. For example, when Mother Maria asks Homer to build a chapel, Homer speaks his mind by telling her he does not want to build it. Mother Maria shows her straightforward behavior during Homer’s stay at the convent. One morning, when Homer sleeps in late, Mother to becomes extremely upset and is not afraid to show how she feels about him. Secondly, both Homer and Mother Maria display a hardworking spirit. Homer is a hardworking man because after finally agreeing to build the chapel,
Fans of the novel found that the way the novel is written, you never want to put it down and the action keeps things moving and is quite entertaining. The novel pulls you in and makes you love each of the main characters in it. This is a great series for anyone to read, and it is audience friendly for whoever reads them. There is quite a bit of suspense that will make the novel exceed readers 's expectations, and the twists and turns keeps you guessing and lets nothing be predictable. Some like the way this group of people bands together when they really need to and keep things together so they can all stop the
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
I would recommend this book to people who love realistic stories. Personally for me it is hard to find books that interest me and this one felt like if I was watching someone else's life while I read it. It has so many interesting points. When you think something might happen
This book is a very interesting read, if you have some self discipline. I mean that you need some self discipline because this book didn’t really captivate me in the sense that I couldn’t put it down. But after reading it for a while, I started to appreciate the author’s way of describing the characters and actions in this book.
This is my personal reflection about this book. First and foremost, I would like to say that this book is very thick and long to read. There are about nineteen chapters and 278 pages altogether. As a slow reader, it is a quite hard for me to finish reading it within time. It took me weeks to finish reading it as a whole. Furthermore, it is written in English version. My English is just in average so sometimes I need to refer to dictionary for certain words. Sometimes I use google translate and ask my friends to explain the meaning of certain terms.
.... I found that the use of unclearness in the narration was really confusing but at the same time it gave me an idea that there would be a big twist the end of the novel about the narrator. Also, the Holman challenged some of the characters characteristic and human conditions that our society on girls and how they are viewed by our society that we currently live in. Though out this novel Holman made lots of connection to real world situations and she used lots of different ways to develop the novel so that the reader could find something interesting about her writing style.

have chosen it for my report. Finally, I will give my reactions to the novel
Only two things in the novel bothered me, the fact that in the beginning of the novel I thought that I would find out what happened to Ethan in more detail and I also wanted Mattie and Ethan to run off together. In the opening of the novel, I thought that I would learn more about the accident and when I finished the novel I thought that I was “left hanging” when Edith Wharton really did not tell you what happened after she made it seem as thought that is what the novel is about. I also wanted Mattie and Ethan to live happily ever after, maybe it was the female in me but I think that they should have run off together instead of being sensible. In the end of the novel, I was really surprised to find out that Ethan is still married to Zeena, I thought that Zeena might leave Ethan and then Ethan and Mattie could get married.
The Chosen by Chaim Potok is a phenomenal novel about two Jewish boys who live in two very discrepant worlds because of the impressions of their fathers. The Hasidic Rabbi, Reb Saunders wants his son, Danny Saunders, to perdure the family legacy and become a Rabbi. Mr. Malter, Reuven’s father, is an Orthodox Jew who is easy going about what he wants his son to do. Throughout the book, both Reuven and Danny face problems and sufferings that helped them both to become stronger and get through the hard times they faced.
Overall, this book was silly, humorous, serious, tense, and funny in all the right ways. It accurately depicted American culture of the time, although sometimes it was a little over the top. This book was basically about a young teen named Huck, grown up in a very close-minded society, who learns and matures throughout a journey with a runaway slave with a big heart, and learns as a first hand experience (which is a better type of learning than teachers regurgitating biased information that may be inaccurate) of what he should truly feel and what his actual opinion of many things are. This book really helped me imagine what living in the late 1800s was like and how bad the issue of racism was, with a lot of comic relief and silly portrayal of white Americans at the time.
This is an odd little book, but a very important one nonetheless. The story it tells is something like an extended parablethe style is plain, the characters are nearly stick figures, the story itself is contrived. And yet ... and yet, the story is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking because the historical trend it describes is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking.
...ecommend reading this book is because the book takes some important themes in our lives. The book is probably the best book to read since the last decade. The story is kind of fascinating through its characters and human emotions.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and believe it to be one of the best books I have ever read. It was extremely well written and challenging for me to understand at times. It conveys that dark side of human ambition very well, and it has given me much to think about.
