If someone didn't have this skill, then they would first of all, never find gold, and they would never find food. If someone didn't portray this skill, then they would give up on finding gold and leave the gold rush. Causing them to leave disappointed and never make any money. This will cause them to surrender from the harsh conditions and they would not be able to survive, and they would leave, not finding any gold and not accomplishing their mission. An example of someone who owned this skill was Thornton. He was very brave and courageous. He would fight against the harsh conditions and push through all of it to find some gold. He also was brave enough to fight against other people and animals for food. One example of Thornton's bravery was when he fought to the death with the Indians. If he was not brave enough, then he would have ran away and surrendered, but no, he fought them and eventually lost the fatal battle.
