Young Ju’s relationship with her family members A Step From Heaven is novel by Anna. It’s about the hard life of a young Korean girl’s family after they go to America. The Korean girl called Young Ju who has a really sad family. The only love and happiness is from her mum. His dad always drunk and her brother get more attention. Young Ju loves her family but there are still different relationships between them. Young Ju does not like brother after he was born because he gets more attention and love from all the family members. She becomes a jealous person on her brother. When she goes to school, she tells her teacher and classmates that her brother died and after that she thinks, “ I am the only Park now. I keep name like a boy” (P41). But after Young Ju’s mum told her you are older and you should do what a sister need to do. When Young’s brother’s balloon is broken Young Ju gives her toy to her brother. Since that Young Ju started to be really kind to her brother. When she knows her brother was doing drugs she decides to not tell their parents because she wants to protect her brother. …show more content…

Young Ju has a lot of sad experience because of her father. Young Ju is not just afraid but angry of his father. Her father always gets drunk and then he starts fighting with Young Ju’s mum after Young Ju’s mum asks where he went. During the lifetime in America, he gets caught because of the event that he drives a car when he is drunk. All the family members are worried and angry with him. Young Ju’s dad likes boys but not girls. After Young Ju’s brother born he gives a lot of privileges and he pays more attention on Young Ju’s brother. After Young Ju tells her dream, Young Ju’s dad laughs and said, “ You are a girl, Young Ju”(P38). It makes Young Ju sad and angry. Finally Young Ju’s dad goes back to Korea and both Young Ju and her sister refuse to go back with
