Chapters 1-2:
• Dracula starts off with a man named Johnathan Harker writing in his diary. Harker is a lawyer travelling from England to Eastern Europe.
• Harker is travelling to the castle of Count Dracula. He is there because he wants to sell Dracula a house in London. Harker also makes notes in his diary.
• He starts making notes on May third, describing the food he ate when he got to Europe. He writes down many recipes that he wants to bring back to his fiancée in London, Mina Murray.
Dracula suggested for Harker to stay at a hotel in the town of Bistritz. There is a letter waiting for him by Dracula telling him to take a coach to Borgo Pass, and then a carriage will take him to the castle.
• When Harker was about to leave, the wife of the worker at the hotel warns Harker about the evil that lurks in castle Dracula.

George’s Day, when all evil things will have full sway. Then she gives him a Crucifix.
• While he is getting on the coach, Harker notices people looking at him and talking to each ther. He hears them say the words werewolf and vampire.
• As the coach leaves, everyone makes the sign of the cross with their fingers and points it towards Harker.
• On the way to castle Dracula, Harker thinks that he has been in the same postion for a long time. He starts to become scared. He also hears the howling of wolfs
• Harker notices blue flames everywhere on the way to the castle. Everytime he would spot one, the driver would get out to inspect it and kept going.
