In the beginning going to college was the logical next step that parents enforced, but now going to college is to learn about the world more and to understand it more as well. Learning about the subjects that look forward for a place in career as well as a way that fulfills the saying “when you love your job, you never work a day.”
The first classes that were taken in the first year were mostly general education classes that work toward most majors, for it was challenging to pick a major straight out of high school. It was a relief that majors can be changed and the advice that changing majors several times is not bad advice, but is more practical. The major that was finally found and accepted was that of English under the branch of Creative
In recent discussions of education, a controversial issue has been whether or not to go to college after high school. On the one hand, some argue that starting your career after high school is the smart thing to do. On the other hand, however, others argue that the smarter decision would be to continue your schooling by going to college to get a degree. In sum, then, the issue is whether or not college is the right decision for you. My own view is that you should go to college because it helps you build character, start a tradition, and gives you experience.
College is a place where people go to learn and to grow as a person. Most people go to college for the same reasons. They want to set a good foundation for getting a job, experience new things, or because their parents wanted them to. All of those reasons apply to me also.
College is a great way of figuring out what you are and what you want to become. People who are against those who turn professional at an early age say that education should be a top of their list of priorities. “Education and college prepares you for a life outside of sports”, states a columnist from brainevent.com. I too am a firm believer in this, and I also believe that children should continue their education as long as possible. Getting educated helps better your life and molds you into a well rounded person.
One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
...ving and interacting with other people every day. Also not going to college will not guarantee students a job right away and the way jobs are moving today many want their employees to have at least some college education in order to work. The success in college and after they graduate is up to the student, their work ethic, prioritizing and taking responsibility of themselves since they are on their own now. Colleges can give student‘s much more than education. After the student graduate college with whatever degree they have and other skills they have learned, such as networking and working with other, these will help them get a job at a place where they can use that education learned while in college for years to come.
“There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs” (unknown) College has recently became a necessity in order to get any sort of job. You must have at least a 4-year degree if you want to do just about anything in life. But why do people go to college? Maybe because of sports? Or perhaps their parents make them? College is a turning point in a teenagers life, it is the beginning to a new chapter. The reason I am going to college is because I want to be more than just a stay at home mom, I aspire to be a very successful business woman.
Since an early age, parents, teachers, and society in general have penetrated the idea into students’ head that we must go to college. Maybe you remember when you were 5 years old in the kinder garden drawing in the classroom, when the lovely teacher asked the “what you want to be when you grow up” question. Since that day students are bombarded with the concept that they have to go to college in order to be successful in life. If students don’t go to a four-year college and have good grades, their life will be a complete disaster. But what happens when you have a 4.0 GPA, have been in the honor roll for 4 straight years, and perhaps been the valedictorian of your high school, but can’t afford college? What if you don’t want to go to college but to a trade school or get a simple certificate instead? That is when we start to deeply think what role college is playing in our society. Should college be an option? What’s the real purpose of going to college anyways? The real question is if by going to a university it would be really preparing students for real world.
There are many factors that a student must consider when choosing a major. Most of the time student chooses a major that they think that allows them to earn the most money, and forgetting about the factor that they are able to pass the class or not. Most of the students are focused only on the money, no matter what kind of major it is. The student now a day’s does not take the time to figure out what is it that they would like to do in their career. Most students are taking up a major in business administration, which has more chance of making money faster and easier than the rest of the majors. The factors that a student must consider when choosing a major are whether the student would get good grades in the classes of that major or not, another factors are that how much that major is going to cost them to complete. Many students does not get any financial aid and end up having to drop out of college due to the lack of money, and whether that major is promising or not; for instance will it give that student a good job or not after graduation.

Going to college for a specific field such as being a teacher, you gain knowledge of how to teach, how to be calm and collected with said students, gain more knowledge of not only the subject you are pursuing to teach but also your people skills, and degrees to further yourself in the field to teach higher grades. College isn’t just about obtaining a degree, no it is about learning more about the field you are pursuing and deepening your knowledge in areas you didn’t think were possible. A degree can get you far, but what matters the most in a college experience is
The arguments between college majors and life after high school are well supported in Ben Casselman's article, "The Economic Guide to Picking a College Major." Ben describes the reality that receiving a college degree does not always mean that you will have economic success. Depending on the major that the student chooses will determine how successful the student will be in the future. The most popular majors can be the lowest paying jobs, that leave graduates working at jobs that do not require a college degree. Some people who do not have a college degree have a better chance at receiving a better paying job than a college graduate. Ben states, "Today's college students need to choose a major that maximizes their chance of graduating and

Some people already know by the age of seven that they want to become a pilot or nurse; others, however, have more difficulties deciding what to do with their future. People who decided to go to a university or college have to make an important choice: what major are they going into? For many people this is a very difficult question. As the statistics show, one out of five students change their major between admission and the first day of classes. Nearly three out of four students change majors at least twice before they graduate. And three out of four college students express uncertainly about their major. These striking results raised some questions for me. Is it really necessary to choose a major? What influence has the choice of a specific major on the student and his or her education? What are the opportunities for the future? And how can these students be helped? Since I am still having trouble choosing a major myself, I decided to do some research on this topic and I hope it will help you a little bit to make the right choice.
