What is the IGT and what does that mean for switching supplier?
The IGT (Independent Gas Transporters) own and operate the gas pipes that are not owned by the National Grid or Transco. The IGT are cheaper at connecting properties gas supplies and are therefore popular with house builders. If your MPRN number begins with 74, 75, 76 or 77 then IGT is your service provider. This may mean your gas is costing you more as the gas supplier has to pay a fee to them for using their pipes.
