Climate change effects the world in ways that may seem like a slow change that will not be noticeable in the next few years but more along the lines of the next several decades. This, however, is wrong and climate change is effecting the world now. It is noticeable in measurable ways including temperature change, sea level rise, and fish migration and ecosystem. Although these issues may seem very large, they are not the only issues related to climate change. There are many more less prominent events that are mostly related to temperature change such as the recent increase in the number and magnitude of extreme weather conditions. Though it may seem like climate change is just a figment of scientists’ and politicians’ imaginations, the issue is in fact a real problem that is affecting everyday society in minute but still prevalent ways.

Pidgeon, climate change is driving rising insurance prices on coastal properties because of perceived rise in sea level which is presumably attributed to climate change (80). Lorenzoni and Pidgeon state that public opinion polls state that people consider climate change as an environmental and not a domestic concern (81). If people do not take climate change seriously and work on the micro level, actually accomplishing results will prove to be more difficult. Oil companies and car companies are the least likely to tell people the truth about climate change while environmental scientists and doctors are the most likely (86) according to a study of the percentage of British respondents. Though there is widespread knowledge of the existence of climate change, the limited understanding of the causes of climate change proves to be a burden on the issue.
