WOW I am not even sure where to start, first there is a world of difference between cows, pigs and chickens than dogs. Dogs have for thousands of years guarded our homes, protected our families from harm, protected other animals that were a food source. Without dogs we would have had a much tougher road in our history. So a dogs status has evolved into an animal that deserves our respect for what it has done for the human species. While our sites www.wildlifeplanet.com and www.endyulin2017.com have fought against Yulin, China and the end of Dog and Cat meat industries as a whole we are far from this kind of debate because of the fact that most of the "Dog and Cat Meat" debate is not centered on just "Friends not food" but A- The manner
A dog is just that, a dog, until someone comes along and makes it into a monster. A dog may be bred to do something, and can be trained to do an entirely different thing. For example, pit bulls have been bred to be nanny dogs. They are supposed to protect babies and ultimately care for them like they would their own pups. Some people have taken this instinct and turned it into something horrid.
Dogs can help children cross the street, lead the blind, alert the deaf, and they do so much more. Many of times, an adult might focus on the problem that doesn’t need requirements. An adult might focus on the problem that a child is socially disabled and by focusing on this problem, they may not even see how this child is trying to cross a busy street or might be trying to talk to someone that they shouldn’t. A service dog prevents the child from going out of sight and many of times can lead a child out of danger or avoid it in the first place.
Dogs have impacted the lives of 44% of American families and homes. People use dogs for much more than just a family friend. Dogs are used for special needs, assisting police, and hunting and tracking. Dogs should be appreciated and never taught to fight or be neglected. Dog fighting is unethical because man’s best friend shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.
Background and rationale: Dogs as a man’s best friend has been a prevalent view point among modern day humans, and some even accept it as fact. However, the genetics behind what makes dogs so compatible with mankind, and the history of domestication are not well known to most. The time of divergence, and geographic origin of dog domestication has been greatly debated, though many firmly believe they are of Asian origin (research article). Many researchers have studied the effects of breeding programs on genetics (pure breed), however the genetics behind initial domestication of dogs from wild wolves has not been well studied. The three following publications focus on these areas, and most show similar findings.
Dogs are common throughout the world, either as a domestic pet, a protector on a farm, or an assistant for hunting amongst others. Regardless of the reason for having a dog, most people have either owned one for themselves or have known somebody who has owned one at some point in their life. Despite the relative normality of having a dog in your life in one way or another, the reasons for dogs coming into existence are not common knowledge among most people. Throughout a great portion of mankind’s history, dogs have been an essential part of life. The truth is, dogs were actually created in part by man.
Dog discrimination dates back into the beginning of the 19th century. It all started mainly because of mass media. Mass media prejudism on dogs have made people to believe that certain breeds are portrayed as savage, bloodthirsty, man-killing beasts. For instance, in the production of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the movie has made Bloodhounds to be known as that kind of dog but in fact, Bloodhounds were used to help criminals escape and hunt down slaves who ran away. In newspapers, articles were published on Northern breeds, such as Malamutes and Huskies. These breeds were made known to be equivalent to wolves where they were known to roam freely in packs and ravenously eat children when found. These Northern breeds sometime later were forgotten and replaced by German Shepherds of WWI as a demonic dog. A TV series called “RIN TIN TIN” held back this discrimination and made this breed out to be known as an amazing helper and protector for humans. Rottweilers and Dobermans were next to being known as a...
Dogs are very common in the world we know today. Many households have one or more. Dogs are trained to be pets. Not only trained to be pets, dogs are also trained for work. Dogs are getting used more and more in our work environment. House dogs can also be considered a working dog depending on why the dog is there. There are many jobs for dogs. Dogs make a big impact on our working and social lives.
As one gets older being responsible comes in handy when applying to jobs, when attending school, and when having kids. Owing a dog teaches you to be responsible. For kids its one of their first jobs they get. They are told to pick up poop, take the dog out for walks, feed the dog and play with the dog. They are taking care of another life and if they do not do those tasks then the dog does not live a happy life. It gives kids a longtime commitment and it teaches them how to be consistent. They no longer just think of themselves they start thinking of the dog’s needs and what’s best for their dog. For adults who are thinking of having kids in the future whether it’s being married or single a dog is a good wake up call as to how hard it is taking care of another life yet so rewarding. Taking care of oneself is one thing but being responsible for another life is a life changing experience. Dogs are not cheep they are expensive. Dogs need a lot of things for
Dogs are humanity’s best friend and each breed has a unique story to their origins. Bloodhounds are named so after a quote in a fairy tale. Miniature Pinschers are from Germany and have not been bred-down. A Labrador Retriever impressed an Earl when he first saw one and he bought a whole family of the dogs.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.
Animal activists accuse meat eaters of being critical when it comes to picking which species to consume. For example, in source D, Jonathan Safran Foer accuses meat eaters of being fickle of the species they consume. He portrays meat eaters as being discriminatory towards the idea of eating certain species by contrasting the U.S’ meat eating choices with countries such as India, Spain, and French. However, Foer’s argument is impractical. To hold the whole world to the same diet standards is unreasonable; the differences in religion, accessibility, taste preference, and etc. makes that sort of radical ideology out of bounds. Regarding Foer’s logic of ‘all meat eaters should consume any species’ flesh,’ should also be applied to all non-meat eaters and their diet preferences. It is true that meat eaters have different preferences when it pertains to the species they consume, however, the same applies to vegetarians and vegans. To result in a compromise, both opposing sides must recognize how unreasonable it is to force the whole population to eat a diet composed of the two extremes; which are to consume all kinds of meat or all kinds of plants. The most realistic solution is to limit the amount of meat the U.S consumes. According to source E, the U.S is the second highest consumers of meat, first place goes to Luxembourgers. In
Unfortunately, there are many dogs that are being mistreated in the world. That is very ironic due to the fact that a dog is supposed to be a man’s best friend, right? In the short story “A Dark Brown Dog” by Stephen Crane, a dark brown dog with a rope hanging from his neck is found on the street by a little boy and befriended by him. He is later brought home to live with the little boy and is abused by him and his family. The symbolism in this story represents the Jim Crow Era, where African Americans were separate but equal. Throughout the story it mentions how the dog is “praying” for the beatings to stop, which is ironic because dogs
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
The relationship between dogs and humans has changed over the time. A crowd of humans and a group of wolves teamed up. Nobody expected the relationship to change. The "dogs" have changed in a good way not the bad way. All dogs share a common ancestor. Humans slowly started caring for dogs which was an unexpected change. For centuries, the development from wolf to dog occurred over supposedly millennia. One common theory is that the relationship started when some bold wolves became venturing into human camps. They soon protected humans from dangerous animals, of which there were many. A little American started spending hundreds of their wages just for the dogs. The communication between dogs and humans has changed over time because of the changing
A dogs behavior is significantly more desirable than a cats. A dog is loving and friendly most of the time and enjoys a good belly rub as a reward. If you try and scratch a cats belly, the cat will try to scratch and bite you. A dog is incomparably easier to train than a cat. You can teach a dog to do anything from bringing you your newspaper to the simplest command, sit. As a result of being able to train a dog, a dog goes to the bathroom outside, leaving no stench behind in your house. Whereas, a cat uses a litter box to go to the bathroom, there is always a stench in your house. Dogs are also far better with children. Dogs form a far greater bond with newborn babies, and often times do not leave the child’s crib side. Also, a trained dog will not cause destruction to your house, while you cannot train a cat to not use their sharp little claws to tear at the side of your couches, and rip and shred all the way down your curtains. Dogs also do not jump places where most cats jump, such as in your lap on your laptop, or on your dinner table at dinner. A dog won’t be a surprise first thing in the morning laying in your bathroom sink either. A dog will lay nex...
