The Shoes on Your Feet
Shoes before time: As far back as anyone could remember it is both ethically and morally necessary to wear shoes in public. Whether it be at the market, in a hospital, or at the mall you can almost guarantee that everyone over the age of 1 will be wearing shoes. In fact, “Humans started wearing shoes about 40,000 years ago, much earlier than previously thought, new anthropological research suggests” (Baker,2008) which proves that it is the one of the very conventional aspects of our society. We as human beings in society tend to depend on these objects to be our protectants and representatives of who we are or who we want other people to think we are. People spend as much as three million dollars on a pair of uncomfortable …show more content…

Is that what college students want as well? Is the mind of a 9-year-old the same as one of an educated college student? My younger brother wants certain shoes because his classmates or team members have them and when he does not have them he becomes very upset. He has become part of the college group of students mentally because as his family we were used to seeing him as a little boy who wants a toy and cries when he doesn’t get it but, now he cries over superficial objects. Not necessarily saying that these college students will throw a fit when they don’t get the shoes they want but, it definitely causes some kind of frustration not having that footwear that they desire to have, when they desire to have it. The three females were able to agree on focusing their purchases on three basic categories that they have in mind. The three are as follows, price, comfort, and design. One of the three girls, Chloe Barnes a student here was more hesitant on whether design was as important as comfort. She out of the three university students was the less focused on image which conveys the difference in opinions and priority. The males that I was able to interview were a bit more focused on a price and comfort but, one in particular said “If I don’t …show more content…

I also truly believe that shoes should be just for what they are a protection for our feet and our health not necessarily a fashion statement to be compared to with other people around us. Not only do I see shoes as a necessary object but, they definitely affect our way of walking and our health past the point of avoiding different bacteria and fungi. According to Live Science, “That 's because wearing shoes changes the way humans walk and how their bodies distribute weight. If you wear shoes regularly, as most modern humans do, those changes end up reflected in your bones and ligaments” (Baker,2008). Then, there is those as mentioned before who believe that design is more important. One of the male university students I interviewed as said that he depended on his outer image to make himself and his mood feel better. The matter could also come to be of how much pain is enough pain to stop wearing a certain pair of shoes. According to an article in The Wall Street Journal ,“No matter how big or small your feet, though, your shoes could be hurting them—or even causing permanent harm”(Holmes 2015) which could be the negative outcome of choosing design over
