Piecework There are couple facts that have occurred in this case study, Dr. Jones doesn’t seem to have the proper staff in order to accommodate any further complications that might occur during the surgery. Dr. Jones didn’t necessarily have to have three procedures that involved three different anesthesia procedures. Mr. Smith overpaid for his procedures when he could have had the problem fixed in one appointment for only $2,000. I am personally not very familiar with these types of procedures which why these are the only facts that I can point at this moment. When it’s all said and done, Dr. Jones made his overhead and Mr. Smith is well because of the procedures done. There are advantages to the consumer in this case because this practice only concentrates on specific health aspect. Having the knowledgeable staff also makes it safe, having gone through numerous consultations may reassure the patient that job will be perform correctly. Jones has is his background in such medical procedures, having to build a special clinic says a lot. The convenience of having to write it off as one clinic is also good and making so much money in the process. Dr. Jones doesn’t seem to have necessary tools in case operation goes wrong like the biggest establishments do. If anything bad occurs during the procedure, death of a patient, Dr. Jones will simply be sued and might lose his practice because of the legal fees. I don’t believe that Dr. Jones is gambling with patients live, as it is stated in the case study “It is not uncommon for these types of procedures to be performed in an unregulated space with no hospital quality control or supervision” (S. Buchbinder and N. Shanks, pg. #512). It is definitely costly for all the patients but I don’t believe their lives are at stack, it is a medical establishment with proper procedures followed and educated doctor performing
