Mr. Riccuto began doing snow removal at Ice Work 10 -15 years ago. AJ asked him to prepare a document because they were going to bid out landscaping and snow removal. He worked at the Ice Rink in January and February. He used the following: 1. A dump truck; 2. A pickup truck, 3. A bobcat which was used upon the property manager’s request. It was used after the snow removal process to physically remove snow from one area to another. He never removed snow from the sidewalk and was never asked to remove snow from that area by anyone from Ice Works because the whole sidewalk along Underhill was covered by snow and was impossible. Sometimes snow even landed in the parking lot; 4. A sand machine which was gas powered. The sander on
Whether zipping along a winding trail, flying through the open flats, or powering up a steep hill snowmachines and the rider need to use physics to stay in control of the machine and themselves. The main compenents are the track, engine, skis and riding.
● Frozen River is based on the life of working class families that live in mobile homes in Massena, New York who are trying to survive, solve struggles and meet their needs. One of the families consists of a single mother name Ray trying to raise her 2 children on her own. Ray works part time at a retail store as a clerk. She has worked there for almost 2 years hoping to become a manager. With the disappearance of her husband she struggles paying her bills, providing food for her children, and not being able to finance the purchase of a new mobile home.
He fig-ured that the normal half hour walk home might take as long as two hours in snow this deep. And then there was the wind and the cold to contend with. The wind was blowing across the river and up over the embankment making the snow it carried colder and wetter than the snow blanketing the ground. He would have to use every skill he’d learned, living in these hills, to complete the journey without getting lost, freezing to death, or at the very least ending up with a severe case of frostbite be-fore he made it back to Ruby.
INTRODUCTION The winter season can be a major hassle for some people while others just have to deal with a slight cool down in temperatures. Over the northern portions of the country, people are faced to deal with the harsh conditions that Mother Nature has in store. Some winter seasons are less brutal than others. Besides the typical storm systems that come through the area and drop different types of precipitation whether it is snow, sleet, or freezing rain, there’s another weather event that affects not everyone in the country, but primarily around the Great Lakes.
In the story,”What Happened During the Ice Storm,” the author, Jim Heynen, utilizes imagery to develop the theme of: be a leader of kindness, not a follower of violence. “Tree branches glistened like glass. Then broke like glass.” shows the contrast between the beauty that the cold rains brought, as well as the violence that came with it. This compares to, “went ice-skating…with clubs to harvest the "pheasants…” because both begin with an innocence, and end with contrasting violence. “...looking at each other, each expecting the other to do something. To pounce on a pheasant, or to yell Bang!” Exhibits how the boys were just waiting to follow whoever acted first, whether in violence or compassion, by describing their actions of uncertainty.

Besides hyperbole, Collins does an excellent job of using metaphors. She uses metaphor from very beginning. The phrase “snow job” in the title is a coll...
People are responsible for higher carbon dioxide atmosphere emissions, while the Earth is now into the Little Ice Age, or just behind it. These factors together cause many years discussions of the main sources of climate changes and the temperature increasing as a result of human been or natural changes and its consequences; even if its lead to the global warming, or to the Earth’s cooling. In their articles, “Global Warming Is Eroding Glacial Ice” by Andrew C. Revkin and “Global Warming Is Not a Threat to Polar Ice” by Philip Stott, both authors discuss these two theories (Revkin 340; Stott 344). Revkin is right that global warming is taking place. Significant increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is due to human activities combined with natural factors such as volcanic emissions and solar radiation – all together they lead to climate changes and temperatures rising. At the same time, other factors such as deforestation contribute to environmental changes for some glaciers not less than air pollution. However, during global warming not all regions of the planet are affected in the same way, local warming and cooling are both possible during these changes.
In 1999 Arctic Cat dealers would go into the next season with caution expecting lower sales than the previous year. When talking to the public about buying a new sled and why they would or wouldn’t most people said the price was too high, the next group said they would if the old broke down, and others siad they wouldn’t buy new.
Genre in film theory is adapted from literary genre analysis as well as founded on its structure as well as narrative elements. Moreover, films are usually categorized according to their mood (emotional tone), setting (locale), and theme topic (issues in the film). All these essentials come into consideration for the placement of the film in a genre convention. As soon as we look narrowly at a genre film, we typically ascertain intricacies that give an awareness of subtle shades of meaning or feeling, especially in artistic expression or performance. An epitome of a genre convention, whereby some type of common identity reappears thus may therefore classify the film as a drama, which would include its elements as iconography, plot, thematic elements and film techniques. A drama is exemplified by the film, The Ice Storm (1997) and consequently, with an analysis of its genre it demonstrates David Bordwell’s reflectionist approach that expounds on its social function, relevance, during the time of its production.
yesterday was Wednesday January 20, 2016. Yesterday was a great day. Carter, Cameron, and I decided to hang out at cameron’s house. After we got there we came to the conclusion that we should go and walk on the ice. We figured the ice would be thick enough for us to walk on and boy were we wrong.
Polar ice is sea ice created from the freezing of sea water, ice sheets and glaciers. These in turn are formed from the build up and compaction of fallen snow. Both the ice sheets and glaciers cover vast areas of the Polar Regions. This polar ice is hugely important to our globe and takes up a large part of it. Global sea-ice coverage averages about 25 million kilometers square; this is the area of the entire North America continent. The ice sheets, which cover the land, with the glaciers cover about 15 million kilometers square; this is almost 10% of the Earth’s land area, with the majority on Antarctica (Earthobservatory.nasa.gov, 2013).
Chasing Ice covers the long debated topic of global warming and whether or not human activity is currently causing global temperatures to rise. Evidence suggests that increased carbon dioxide emissions over the past couple hundred years are responsible for the warming of the Earth’s surface, and thus increasing the levels of the ocean due to an accelerated rate of ice melting. We discussed this same topic in class and how humans are contributing to the greenhouse effect which plays a large role in trapping these unnatural amounts of gases such as carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere and causing a rise in the number of natural disasters around the world.
The year was 1992; a cold December arctic wind had brought a chance of snow to the area. It was the weekend and time to relax after a long hard week at work. The weather service had predicted several inches of snow to blanket the region by the next day. Not to worry: it was the weekend and traveling was not a necessity.
I observed a 10 year old girl, named Laura who was a participant in the Homeschool Fit for kid’s program at the Oshkosh YMCA. The class took place on the Ice rink with combined grade levels of kindergarten to 12th grade, there were about 24 student’s patriating in the ice skating activity. The ice rink was rented just for the homeschool fit for kid’s class. Students had to pick up ice skates at the counter. There were a few walkers set aside for students who needed the extra help ice skating. The main instructor for the day was the ice rinks ice skating instructor, then there were six other college student teachers who teach the Homeschool fit for kids program normally. These six teachers were going around and helping students put skates on, state around, and then remove the skates.
