Introduction:
Jesse is a 15-year-old student who is not doing well in school. He gets into lots of fights at school. He has been kicked out of all his classes at least once. His anger gets to point where he cannot handle it. Jesse feels that he does belong there at the school. His peers in school judge him for what he wears and how he smells. He is always being bullied by another student each day. He only has from a single-parent family with no male figure.

Jesse does not display any genetic issues that may be affecting him. He does not display signs of having schizophrenia. It does not appear that Jesse has been put on any medication or therapy. He does not show any signs of having malnutrition, allergies, or other health

His dad left Jesse’s life at three years old. Jesse’s dad does not acknowledge him as a son. If his dad sees him he looks the other way. Also, his dad has two step-sons that bullies Jesse at school. It seems that in child management, Jesse’s mom does not portray authoritative discipline. She does not try to help solve the issue. She does not seem to be demanding and responsive. She does not do anything because she believes that the only way for him to get better is to find a father figure. The ineffective discipline for Jesse involves lax supervision. Although he gets in fights, he does not do well in school because his parents are not positively involved in his education. Due to his family’s coercive process, Jesse is not sent to school prepared to comply with the teachers’ instruction, to complete his assignments, and relate to his peers. Jesse seems to not have social training at home and it is important to be successful in school. An external influence affecting Jesse’s family is poverty. The students in his school demanded a strict conformity regarding dress for social acceptance. Since Jesse does not wear name brand clothing, his peers made him an outcast and bullied him. The teachers do not seem to be sensitive to Jesse and have clear and positive expectations for him. They assume he is going to hurt someone in the classroom and try to argue with him during class. The school uses instruction in nonfunctional and irrelevant skills. The different classrooms do not provide Jesse with reasons why the instruction was worthwhile. Due to this situation, Jesse tries to avoid or disrupt class. Instead of providing him with reasons, the teachers argue with him to complete the work. The school provides destructive contingencies of reinforcement. The school is providing Jesse with negative reinforcement, by pulling kicking him out of class, and it allows him to avoid class work. The teachers misidentify in the case of Jesse. If Jesse arguing with them and fighting allows him to leave the class and the work, they are reinforcing his behavior. This is the life that Jesse from the novel, Jesse by Gary Soto has to go through everyday and much more. Jesse’s father was killed in a work related accident and their family adopted a new Stepfather who has a nasty attitude to everyone due to his addiction of alcohol. His mother whom is a bystander in all of the situations does not take matters to her own hands allowing her kids to be verbally abused by the stepfather. Born on September 5, 1847 in Clay County, Missouri was probably the most famous criminal in all of America Jesse James. Jesse was the highlight when it came to criminology and still is his name comes up and anyone can tell you who he is in America. His life of crime began not at a young age but later on during his campaign in the civil war as a confederate soldier. Jesse and what he then started as his gang would capture unarmed Union Soldiers and put them through cruel torture sessions, but they would usually capture them and kill them without orders of their commanding officers and scalping them like game. However this did not help Jesse and his brother when they were trying to do this to what they thought were Union Soldiers who were unarmed,but Jesse found out that they were not unarmed he was shot in the chest near Lexington, Missouri. This was not all bad for Jesse this event is what lead him to marrying his wife; his cousin Zerelda Mimms (1874–1882).

Every where you turn on television and in movies, you see someone killing someone or someone getting killed. Kids see the brutal ways, or the quick and smart schemes of combat tactics. They falsely believe that these types of behaviors are acceptable, because the next week they are back on the show demonstrating another episode of violent acts, with no consequences.
Tough times challenged a boy like Jesse James growing up in Missouri. Internal conflicts during the Civil War devastated the state. Missouri, a border state, tried to stay neutral, but it seemed that the people of Missouri held different ideas. Violence broke out between southern sympathizers who wanted to secede and those loyal to the Union. Jesse James, best known as a dangerous and ruthless thief, murdered many innocent people, but many in the deep south continued to regard him as a hero. Some compared James to Robin Hood and admired him for his daring deeds. Jesse James, like many of his contemporaries, experienced an innocent early childhood, until the atrocities of the Civil War transformed him into the marauder that history portrayed.
People shied away from him, as people often do when confronted with a powerful stench. Jesse could not help it, hygiene was not so high on his list of priorities, finding food and shelter were a bit more important. He could not find employment even though he was hardworking and educated. Jesse wanted to work, and as a college graduate, he should have ample opportunity to do so. However, Jesse's life had taken a severe downturn. Shortly after graduation, he met a girl at a bar who was willing to 'celebrate' with him. One thing led to another as things are frequently prone to do and Jesse indulged himself. Unfortunately, the girl was only sixteen (a very mature sixteen), her father learned of Jesse's actions and had the boy arrested. He was convicted of statutory rape and received a slap on the wrist - so to speak. You see, Jesse was now a sex offender and had to register with the state police; his name, address, telephone number, and picture were published and put on the Internet. Almost immediately, he began receiving threatening phone calls and all job prospects dried up. His life was over.
Working-class children, minority children, unpopular children and children doing poorly in school seem to be the ones more susceptible to imitating the aggression that they see on television. This may be partly because they watch more hours and are exposed to more television violence…Television may or may not contribute to their aggressive behavior, but their aggressive nature does play a major role in what they choose to watch.
While Jesse was in elementary school, Charles Riley, a track field coach, noticed how fast he ran and high he jumped and offered to coach him. He wanted to meet young Jesse so he would be able to mold him into a good high school track and field and even an Olympic athlete. This coach recommended Jesse to do more running than what he was doing in gym class. He also suggested to run 90 minutes a day after school, but Jesse could not run after school because he was busy working in the fields. So, instead of running after school every day, he decided to run before school. During practice, Coach Riley, would critique Jesse’s run for him to improve his form, keeping his knees and head high and his back straight. Jesse was not used to a white-American coach working with him to achieve a goal. Coach Riley would push him and this would empower Jesse to do his best.
Television violence is also a cause of both violent and aggressive behavior in teenage boys. According to the evidence in a study done by Turner, Hesse, and Peterson-Lewis, it was concluded that watching television violence had a long-term increase in aggression in boys (Hough 1). In addition to this study, Dr. William A. Belson evaluated fifteen hundred boys, aged thirteen to sixteen years, and he determined that boys with heavy television exposure are more likely to commit violent acts than other boys (Langone 51). In Belson’s study, he discovered that the effect of each violent act on television was collective, and over time, Belson discovered that the boys engaged in many aggressive acts, including painting graffiti, breaking windows, aggressive play, swearing, and threatening other boys with violence (Kinnear 26).
