In this section of the book, "Wave", we are introduced to Sam and his family who are off to Thailand for their Christmas vacation. This is the first year that Sam's older sister Beth isn't able to go, this makes his mother upset and leads to an almost constant worry for her daughter. After parting ways with Beth and enjoying their time at the resort, riding elephants and sitting on the beach, Sam and his father notice that the ocean level had dropped out of nowhere; it happened so fast, that the fish couldn't even keep up with the receding tide. People were amazed by what was happening and all gathered by the beach but when the water starts to come back in, Sam and his parents find themselves retreating

Knowing about the Nazis and what they did gives the reader more knowledge about the subject and before you read the novel you have expectations on what the Wave will be like. By having knowledge about the topic of Nazi Germany you have a better understanding of the actions of the novel and what is going on for example you will understand the activities that Ben Ross has set for the students and you will understand why those activities are relevant to the subject. ‘He took a period, perhaps two periods and tried an experiment. Just to give his students a sampling, a taste of what life in Nazi Germany might have been like’ . From this quote as a reader you will be more engaged in the novel as you have a better understanding of what Nazi Germany might have been like and you will also expect or wonder what activities Ben Ross will set for his students.
However instead of an Italian straw hat that has been chewed up, it is an Italian bottle of wine. The bottle of wine belongs to the aunt, who was saving it for Thanksgiving. The wine is important because she needs to drink it on Thanksgiving so she can deal with the family that she is hosting. The problem is, she left it in her car. Then Lilly borrowed her car to drive over to Ashley and Amber’s House. Lilly found the wine and brought it inside and proceeded to drink it. Once Amber realizes it was Aunt’s special wine that Lilly had drunk, she insisted that they find a replacement. Lilly was not in the right state of mind to go out and find a new bottle and Amber stayed at home to take care of her. So, Ashley called an Uber and her and the other girls started on the journey. They decided not to tell the others (the wedding party or group of girls) about the wine because they did not want them to worry or end up spilling the beans. The girls, however, thought they were going to taco bell. So, they go to the liquor store first, to see if they sell the wine. Ashley goes into the cellar with Clara, the owner of the liquor store, while the girls stay in the Uber. The girls get restless, however, and think the liquor store is taco bell. They come in and start ordering tacos from the attendant, Tardine. Clara tells Ashley that they are out of the Italian wine. However, the last person they sold it to was Charmaine, whose family sold drugs for a living. On the way to Charmaine’s house they stop at taco bell for the girls. However, when they get there, Rose, Charmaine’s niece, believes Ashley is there to pick up some drugs. Ashley just wanted the wine, so she figured she would play along with it until she could get the wine. Charmaine comes in and insists that Ashley used some of the drugs before she left, so she knows she is not a narc. Ashley obliges, however she still has the bottle of wine on her
After finishing this book, I immediately thought to myself, "finally!" To explain, the book was not a very fun and entertaining read by any means. At times I found myself reading a couple pages just to get myself tired and ready for bed. However I did feel that this book was very educational and brought up some great points and ideas. Written by Debora Spar, a Harvard professor, I found myself struggling through some chapters simply because of the vocabulary and advanced ideas that she proposed. For example, when she explained the four phase model, I found some of that to be a little confusing because I initially had a hard time relating her four phases to today's technologies or industries. It wasn't until I was finished with the book was I able to put it all together and I usually have a hard time understand books like that. All in all, the book is very intelligent, but you can tell that she did not write this for the sake of entertainment. It is a great read for this class, as it is very obvious how her book applies to what we are studying.
I’m applying to SEA Semester, because I love the ocean. It’s been my dream from a young age to learn to sail and live on a ship. I’m from Aroostook County in Northern Maine, which is five hours away from the ocean. Every summer my parents would make sure I got to the ocean at least once, and I’ve romanticized it since I can remember. Since coming to Bowdoin, I’ve always spent my weekends biking and driving to the ocean, because it’s become a place for me to think clearly and escape the fast-paced life of a college student. The ocean has developed into my happy place, which is why I want to study it and understand how humans are impacting it. I want my undergraduate studies to give me the knowledge needed to protect our oceans in the future, and to be able to conduct research to expand our knowledge of the ocean. To be able to live on a tall ship and continue my studies of the ocean is my dream.
Over the course of Japanese history, arguably, no artist is more famous for their works than Katsushika Hokusai. During his 88 years of life, he produced over 30,000 pieces of artwork, and heavily influenced Western styles of art. His most famous piece was created around 1831, a Japanese styled piece titled, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. This piece has stood as a defining piece of artwork in the Japanese culture for over 180 years, analyzed by students and authors for the interpretations filling the paper. The relationship between Hokusai’s painting has directly affected the Western point of view of Japanese style. The English author, Herbert Read’s novel interprets the painting distinctly differently from a Japanese point, American poet,

What is Wave Scheduling? Firstly, Wave scheduling is basically when you book clients for appointments at the same time. wave scheduling are similar as double-booking method, two or more patients are given a particular appointment time. double booking is only limited to a practice that can attend to more than one patient at a time. Also, Wave scheduling can only be used in medical facilities that have several procedure rooms and several staff on duties. For instance, when using this method the patients are scheduled only in the first half hour of each hour.
A billboard for the restaurant is struck by vandalism; Eddie tries to get a girl’s attention.
When something like the Wave comes along, so promising and full of energy and optimism, people are bound to be caught up in it. The students at Gordon High got "swept up" in the ideals and promises of the Wave. No matter how poorly it may have turned out, though, the Wave did start as a good idea. It attempted to make all students equal, to eliminate competition and create a feeling of unity, and, most importantly, to teach the students in Mr. Ross class about Nazi Germany.

The progression of The Wave in Gordon High School throughout the novel The Wave by Rhue Morton, reviewing the themes of conformity (the draw of community), individualism and authoritarianism. The Wave is a reenactment of what happened in the Holocaust but inside a classroom. Ben Ross starts the progression of The Wave, he thought that this would help the students in his class understand what happened in the Holocaust and believed that he would stay in control and have power of the progression in this classroom experiment. In The Wave Rhue utilizes the character journeys of Robert Billing and David Collins. Their journeys of conforming were rapid; they both quickly got involved in The Wave. The motives of David Collins and Robert Billings were quite diverse; Robert seemed to have bad intentions even before The Wave had started where as David Collins wanted to his football team to have more team spirit and for isolated students to feel like they belong. As it grew Laurie Saunders journey through The Wave portrayed the theme of individualism, by being excluded from school events and being targeted on because of her disagreement of joining The Wave.
