Carlos Santana was born July 20, 1947, in Autlán de Navarro, Mexico. His father Jose Santana was a talented violinist and would be one of the main inspirations for Carlos Santana to pursue a musical career. His father pushed Santana to learn the violin at the young age of four, although Santana didn’t appreciate the hours of forced practice he says that it’s what made him so good at playing music. He was destined for greatness and is often regarded as a child prodigy in the musical community. Santana and his family moved from their home town to the border city of Tijuana in 1955 and the eight year old Santana was immediately captivated by the music culture in the city. The family moved to the city in order for his dad to find work playing for tourist and often Santana would also play song for pay on the streets to help his family cover bills. Little Richard whom ultimately caused his love for the guitar. Santana traded in his violin for an electric guitar and fell in love with its sound. His skills were quickly acknowledged and at the age of 12 he was invited to play in the strip clubs and bars of Tijuana. In the early 1960s Santana and his family moved to the California city of San Francisco, and to his surprise the music scene was drastically different than Tijuana. The people in California at this time were into bands like the beach boys who didn’t strike any type of spark in Santana’s love for music. It wasn’t until the late 1960s and 1970s when the hippie movement had taken over, producing artist like Jimi Hendrix and bands like Cream. Santana enjoyed their music so much he would sneak into the Fillmore auditorium in San Francisco where they were playing and became so motivated by their music formed his own band. In 1966 Santana formed the band Santana with two other musicians, David Brown a bassist and Gregg Rolie a singer and keyboard player. Together with Brown and Rolie Santana created multicultural band with a new and exhilarating sound, it was nothing like anyone had ever heard. The band Santana pushed forward a Latin infused rock sound with elements of jazz this sound was absolutely brand new and a one of a kind. To fit the band into one specific genre of music would be impossible, because of their versatile musical styles. The band Santana was lucky enough to get a slot at the infamous Woodstock festival where the band was an immediate success. Following their performance at Woodstock the band was given a record deal with Columbia records which was then owned by Clive Davis who would be a huge influence on not only Santana’s music but also his personal life. The Bands first album was named Santana after the band and Santana himself went triple platinum selling more than 4 million copies.
The song Evil Ways which was a cover from another artist Willie Bobo was a major hit of the album making it to the top 10 on the billboard charts. The next year in 1970 the band released their album Abraxas which also reached a platinum accreditation. The band released their final album Santana III together in 1971 and when the album tour was over the band unfortunately broke up. Greg Rolie the keyboardist and vocalist went on to start his own band, Journey, while Santana continued with his music despite the constant change in personnel he kept the band name Santana. The first album that Santana released after the break- up of his original trio was with Buddy Miles in Hawaii the album was also a success and reach the top ten on the charts and ultimately went platinum. Santana ventured through his musical career through the 1970s by making music with hired musicians and released either gold or platinum albums along the
way. Carlos Santana’s music touched on various topics at this time and were highly influenced by his drug usage much like the majority of the music in the 1970s, although most his song were focused on love or women. Santana’s songs usually are talking about an exciting time with a woman or about admiring a woman. If they aren’t talking about the joys of the relationship then they are discussing the heartache, yet are usually linked to the idea of love. Santana also sang a lot about finding peace especially since that was the core foundations of his religion. His religious belifs followed the teachings of a guru by the name of Sri Chinmoy. His religion was a big part of his life and greatly influenced him to share his thoughts through his music. Through the years Santana had always played with a band creating amazing albums, and in 1986 he took his musical abilities in a new direction and wrote his first score for the film La Bamba which is the biography of Richie Valens. The last album that Santana released was in 1999 which was titles Supernatural and of course followed in his prosperous path selling more than ten million copies. The Album had two of his biggest hits “Smooth” and “ Maria Maria”. This album won Santana a total of eight Grammy Awards it was his best work yet. Today Carlos Santana tours his music all around the world and is featured in many other artist work because of his famous and one of a kind guitar playing. However, he soon found himself amid the multicultural atmosphere of San Francisco, with all of its diverse musical styles. It was here that Carlos would find what he had been searching for, as if destiny had brought him to the right place at the right time. For the next five years, Carlos continued to evolve his own unique style of music that would later identify him as one of the most distinctive, innovative musicians of our time. In 1966, the music of Carlos Santana exploded on the streets of San Francisco with the debut performance of the Santana Blues Band. For the next two years, the Santana Blues Band was overwelmed by a wave of popularity that would take them from San Francisco's Fillmore West, to that historical performance in 1969 before 500,000 at the Woodstock Festival in New York.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was born in Dallas, Texas on October 3, 1954 to Jim and Martha Vaughan. Stevie Ray first got interested in the guitar around the age of eleven in 1963. By then his older brother (Jimmie Vaughan born in 1951.) had already been playing for a couple years. He taught Stevie Ray a few tricks, a couple blues chords, and minor pentatonic licks, but not much though. Stevie Ray was mostly self taught, he grew accustomed to never using his pinkie. Growing up he listened to great blues legends like the famous B.B. King, the not as famous, but close, who really didn't get the recognition he deserved, Albert King. He found their music gratifying, and admired them greatly, learning all their licks by ear, on stage he could mirror any solos they threw at him. Both Albert King and B.B. King played a very influential role in the development of Stevie Rays style. By the time he was fourteen he was already playing in Dallas blues clubs with bands like Blackbird, the Shanstones, and the Epileptic Marshmallow. Stevie Ray being so involved with his music barely had time for highschool. He dropped out in 1972.
With the success of his two most recent albums Joel was named the biggest selling solo artist of the 20th century with Columbia Records. In 1980, Joel followed up with another huge album which dominated the charts for six weeks named Glass Houses. Joel earned several more Grammy awards to compliment many of his prior awards. He then quickly released his first collection of live performances which enhanced his legend and fan base even more. The only thing that seemed to slow Joel was a serious motorcycle accident in 1982, which he miraculously recovered from.
Santana was signed to Colombia Records and at Colombia it was there they recorded their first album. After the first album they weren't satisfied so they had to make some changes so they dropped Livingston from the band and replaced him with Michael Shrieve who was worked on jazz & rock music.

However, Jimi Hendrix was the rock legend who changed the way music was made and he raised the bar for the rest of the music industry. Jimi was born in 1942, in Seattle, Washington, he had a difficult childhood, being raised by a young mom who had Jimi at seventeen and a dad who eventually left and started another family, he was often left living with relatives. He only saw his mom a few times before she eventually died in 1958. In many ways, music has become a sanctuary for Jimi since he grew up not having much.

James Marshall Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942 in Seattle Washington. James faced a somewhat difficult childhood as he was faced with many obstacles. His father quickly divorced his alcoholic mother who later died in 1958. Years passed and Jimi continued living with his father and attending grade school. His father introduced him to the guitar at age 13 and taught him how to play. James grew fond of playing but never pursued it as a child. In 1959, Jimi was expelled from high school because of poor behavior. Jimi enlisted in the US Army. But he injured his back on a jump, so he got out on medical discharge.
Mozart was born on Jan. 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. His father was Leopold Mozart, a composer and a popular violinist. Mozart received his early musical training from his father. At the early age of 3 Mozart showed signs of being a musical genius. Then, at the age of five Mozart started composing. Beginning in 1762 Mozart’s father took young Mozart and his older sister, Maria Anna, on tours in Europe where they played the piano, harpsichord, violin, and organ, together and separately. Mozart learned to play the piano, harpsichord, and violin from his father. He gave public concerts and played at numerous courts and received several commissions.
